Menswear Club Subscription Box Review – March 2016

This month’s The Menswear Club box looked to make traveling a little more comfortable.  The Menswear Club is a monthly men’s subscription box with 5-6 full-size grooming products as well as menswear accessories.  Subscribers can expect hair pomade, combs, beard oil, face lotion & cleanser, aftershave, shaving cream, socks, ties, pocket squares, tie clips, and more.

The box itself has a great design and is really well put together.  It’s hip and classy, and the combination of items follows the formula established by the tried and true men’s style boxes.

The theme for this month is The Jet Setter.

Laface Laboratories Purifying Face Wash ($6.84):  This doubles as both a cleanser and a moisturizer toner.  It is fortified with aloe and a great all-in-one to take in a lean-packed dopp kit.

Dude Products Dude Wipes ($0.66):  All around wipes with vitamin and aloe.  These are designed for freshening up your sensitive bits, as well as using as a traditional face wipe, perfect for removing that airplane film.

Men in Cities Travel Pack Bag ($10):  Modeled on the lightweight nylon sneaker bags, this pouch folds down to almost nothing, making it a perfect way to segregate dirty clothes within your luggage, organize your toiletries, or keep your packed clothes clothes neat.

Torr Attire Striped Compression Socks ($19.99):  These high-legged socks compress your leg for their entire length, reducing the swelling that can occur during long flights.  They have smooth feel and look elegant enough to wear with business attire, too.

Knottery NY Black Silk Knit & White Dotted Tie:  This tie brings a bit of fashion-forward edge to your look.  The weave and unusual square cut give it a wonderful textured look, perfect for contrasting against a smooth shirt or suit.

The large weave and silky texture make the tie hang very loose — it also makes tying it a little more of an adventure, but it holds the knot well.

The Menswear Club has the classic elements of a men’s styling box, combining socks, neckwear and grooming items.   It is very similar to Sprezza and Gentlemen’s Box, and a little more expensive.  This box did have a travel bag item and special purpose socks, so the curators may augment the value by going beyond aesthetic-only accessories —  I will keep an eye on this subscription to see how it develops and to get a sense of the recurring value.
