February is here, and there is love in the air from all of the pampering we’re about to receive. This month is all about giving back to the day-one who’s been there for you through thick and thin: you! After all, who else knows all of your fave movies, go-to snacks, and speaks your love language? Be your own true love and spend this month falling in love with yourself. Write yourself a love letter and seal it with a kiss. Take yourself out for a romantic candlelit dinner. Treat yourself to a bouquet of your favorite flowers and never—we repeat, never—skip the self-care.
Don’t worry if you’re unsure where to start, because IPSY’s giving you five self-care superstars in February’s bag to help you love yourself. With so many ways to spoil ourselves this month, it only makes sense for February’s Glam Bag design to be just as delightful and sweet. And trust us, your hearts will skip a beat for the crush-worthy elements that our resident designer Joanne Wong sprinkled in. When we first laid eyes on this month’s design—a playful pastel pink pouch with a whimsical, candy-heart-inspired pattern, it was love at first sight! We love how February’s design gives off fun, flirty, lovey-dovey vibes without resorting to the usual red hearts and roses.
“I chose a faux-leather fabric to really showcase embossed, heart-shaped design,” says Wong. “The tactile feel of the puffy hearts is so fun, and I drew inspiration from classic candy-gram boxes and those iconic 3D conversation hearts.”
The bag’s bold pop of color comes through in the neon green zipper, setting it apart from previous February Glam Bags. “I wanted to incorporate unexpected elements into this year’s design. The jelly pastel color palette brings a playful, nostalgic vibe with its soft pink material. It contrasts in a really unique way with the bright green zipper and captures the fresh and unique feel of this year’s lineup,” Wong says.
Wong made sure this bag was just as beautiful on the outside as it is on the inside. “I chose a cream-colored fabric with a purple heart design for the lining because I wanted this bag to feel full of love even if it’s empty.”
Wong’s favorite feature is also the sweetest part of the design: the lollipop-shaped zipper pull. Creating it, however, wasn’t as sweet as it looks. “We went through several samples of different lollipop designs to find the perfect size and material that wouldn’t poke or damage the bag. I’m so happy to see how the final puller came out—it looks like a real lollipop!” she says.
“I used to get so excited receiving Valentine cards or candy-grams at school, and now I feel the same thrill when it comes to beauty products,” says Wong. “I want this Glam Bag to spark that same sense of childlike wonder, making you feel like a kid again with fresh new skincare and beauty finds.”
