This month, Gentleman’s Box featured some great items for date night. Gentleman’s Box is a monthly men’s subscription box – including the required essentials for the savvy man. Each month includes a copy of GQ, which is delivered separately to subscribers. Boxes contain selected items ranging from style to grooming. Each box honors a celebrity historical figure. While honorees used to be male archetypes that may have brought certain individuals to mind, the Gentleman’s Post now contains enough specificity to ascertain the identity of the particular honoree, though he is never named.
This month is dedicated to “Our Favorite Dreamer “. Each box includes a copy of “The Gentleman’s Post,” A expanded-format booklet filled with cool stuff.
The Post includes a new curator’s letter, information on the inspiration, the contents, details on every item, the Gentleman’s Tip for the month, and an interview with a Gentleman’s Box subscriber. I like this format — it has an upscale look, and the added content makes me appreciate the items more than a simple card would.
The Gentlemen’s Post has a description of every item in the box.
Here’s everything in this month’s box except the copy of GQ ($6), mailed separately to subscribers. The contents are usually include a pair socks, a tie, an accessory or two, and a grooming sample — or a slight variation on that theme.
Urban Professor La Camille Lapel Flower ($24): The lapel pin is an oft-overlooked accessory that reminds us of a time when suits weren’t reserved for court appearances or job interviews. This one has a nice textural appeal, but it won’t scream from across the room — a nice, understated way to ease into wearing lapel pins.
Gentleman’s Box Silver Tie Bar ($15) Gentleman’s Box exclusive! A classic silver tie bar that will work (fashion-wise) with a variety of ties — I think it goes particularly well with the woven tie included in the box. It was a bit tricky to get on there, but I managed it.
Dude Wipes: for freshening up your stinkiest areas. The aloe and vitamin E make these wipes much better for your skin than the disinfectant wipes you might otherwise resort to using.
Deadsoxy Franklin Socks ($14): The bold color adds some interest to an otherwise very elegant and formal sock. I love that this sock is also made in America. They’re anti-slip and they are promised to never shrink or fade.
My Suited Life Midnight Sleek Tie ($24.90): This tie pushes boundaries while feeling very proper and relaxed. The weave makes the tie hang like a sweater, rather than the rigidity of a common tie.
The flat-cut bottom makes the tie a bit edgy, but it works with the soft flow of the fabric.
The total value was about $84 (exclusive of the Dude Wipes), which is pretty amazing for a $25 box! The ensemble this month is sharp and modern and a little bit different, while still staying within the general male dress formula, which makes it a win.

Did you find it even a little strange that this box of Hot-Topic-style clothing was dedicated to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr?
