CIATÉ LONDON Bamboo Bronzer ($25) Me and bronzer don’t really get along, especially when it’s a shade that is as orangey and warm as this one. I want to like it, I want to look sun-kissed, but I tend to look dirty after applying, no matter how soft of a touch I try. This has some shimmer and the color is South Beach (golden bronze, subtle shimmer). It has bamboo extract to absorb oil from the skin. Swatched below.

VINTAGE BY JESSICA LIEBESKIND Sparkling Lip Gloss in Pink Sequin ($25) The makeup artist who created this brand describes this product as liquid diamonds and I love that! This shade is a “light, sparkly icy-pink lilac”. You can wear it by itself or layer it over lipstick or liner. It doesn’t feel sticky and is very pretty. The applicator is a thin brush. Swatched below.

BASIC BEAUTY Gel Lip Liner Duo in Latte & Cocoa ($24) These lip liners look like they will work well with fall-colored lipsticks, and they are soft enough to be worn on their own or paired with gloss. I can work with Latte, which has some redness to it but I’m not a fan of brown lips so I cannot see myself wearing Cocoa, although I’m sure it looks beautiful on other people. I paired Latte with the lip gloss from above but the liner was super smooth and also worked well on its own. Swatched below.

WANDER BEAUTY On-the-Glow Blush and Illuminator ($38) This is a double-ended multiuse product and I received it in the shade Bare/Nude Glow. One side has a soft nude rose shade that can be applied to lips, cheeks, or eyes and the other side has a soft glowy highlighter that can be used in those same places plus on the body (like bare shoulders or the clavicles). The rose color isn’t as dark as shown in my picture above but glides on easily for a lovely flush of color (I used my fingers to blend it in). Sometimes lip and cheek tints look good on one place but not the other but this looked good on both areas and the highlighter wasn’t too sparkly. You can apply directly from the applicator or rub your fingers or a brush across the top of the product before placing it on the face. There’s no scent or flavor. Swatched below.

Swatched on top are the Basic Beauty lip liners in Latte and Cocoa; the Wander Beauty illuminator and blush; the Jessica Liebeskind lip gloss; and the Ciate bronzer.

ACE BEAUTÉ Violet Sage Palette ($32.99) According to the brand’s website, this palette is a “subscription box exclusive” and seems to be sold out, at least for now. Also, it doesn’t actually say that it’s an eyeshadow palette, which means some of the colors probably aren’t approved by the FDA for use around the eye area so if you have sensitive eyes then you might have a reaction. The colors are mostly pink with some purple and greens to mix it up a bit. This is a bold palette and some people will love the shades while others (like me) may long for something a bit more neutral. I think it’s great that BOXYCHARM mixes it up though to keep it interesting.

Here’s the top row swatched on the left, the bottom row on the right. I used a primer but the shimmery shades I applied with a brush didn’t stick so I used my finger. The colors blended ok-ish. There’s a good mix of shimmer and mattes here.

Yet another makeup-heavy month for my base BOXYCHARM! Last month I was missing a WOW! item, and I think Boxy made up for it this month. I was especially happy with my Ciate multiuse product, it glides on easily, is quick to blend, and the color looks good on my face. I also liked the lip gloss, it really does look like liquid diamonds on my lips! The lip liners were ok, although only one color worked for me, and the bronzer will be shared with someone who can appreciate it (it’s just too dark for my skin tone). The palette may not get used daily but I will reach for it on special occasions. The value of my box was around $145!

Below is a box opening photo as well as the product info card.
