Jade Fire Gold by June CL Tan ($15.49)

Girls of Paper and Fire meets A Song of Wraiths and Ruin in June CL Tan’s stunning debut, where ferocious action, shadowy intrigue, rich magic, and a captivating slow-burn romance collide.

In an empire on the brink of war . . .

Ahn is no one, with no past and no family.

Altan is a lost heir, his future stolen away as a child.

When they meet, Altan sees in Ahn a path to reclaiming the throne. Ahn sees a way to finally unlock her past and understand her lethal magical abilities.

But they may have to pay a far deadlier price than either could have imagined.

A stunning homage to the Xianxia novel with dangerous magic, fast-paced action, and a delightful  romance, Jade Fire Gold isn’t one to miss!

It’s a YA fantasy, with elements of mythology and some romance as well. It also has LGBT representation!

It’s action-packed, making it such a fun and entertaining read. The world building is also excellent, as well as loveable characters. Even their character development is well-thought-out!

This novel was just published in October 2021 and it’s also the author’s debut work. I’m looking forward to her future novels!

Candle. The box included a scented candle inspired by Shadow of the Fox, an item worthy to represent Tatsumi’s legendary sword, Kamigoroshi! It has scent notes of persimmon, citrus, and nectarine. It’s perfect to light up when you want to relax and read a book!

Enamel Pin. Every box includes an enamel pin! This month’s pin design is derived from the magical sword from Jade Fire Gold.

It has 2 posts that allows it to be securely attached to a bag, jacket, or banner.

Sewing Kit. For repairing loose buttons and rips, here’s handy sewing kit. The threads, needles, scissors, and measuring tape were inside a Spin the Dawn inspired tin can!

All legends have a spark of truth.

Acrylic Display. The box also includes a Middle Earth themed acrylic display, which shows a hand-lettered representation of the Riddle of Strider.

This is the perfect display item for Lord of the Rings fans!

All that is gold does not glitter.

Not all those who wander are lost.

The old that is strong does not wither.

Deep roots are not reached by the frost.

From the ashes a fire shall be waken.

A fight from the shadows shall spring.

Renewed shall be blade that was broken.

The crownless again shall be king.

Art Print. It’s a beautiful art print that features Rey and Kylo Ren from the Star Wars! You can either frame it or put it up you wall as is, and it’ll look great.

300pc Jigsaw Puzzle. Lastly, here’s a The Raven Claw and Call Down the Hawk inspired jigsaw puzzle.

The puzzle pieces were packed in plastic. They also came in a box where you can store the puzzle after use.

The puzzle artwork is made by Dri Gomez.

Here’s a sneak peek for next month’s box!

According to the card, the November box contains an item designed by Book Babe Designs.

This month’s Wield Your Blade themed Owl Crate was fun! The box includes a well-written YA fantasy novel and useful items such as a scented candle and a sewing kit. I also like the sword pin, which fits this month’s theme really well. There’s even a 300-piece puzzle and a Star Wars art print! If you’re looking for a well-thought-out book subscription, this is it. This box also makes a great gift for a fellow bookworm!
