The Baking Box by King Arthur Flour is a one-time box that contains a baking recipe you can easily recreate at home. It’s $25 per box and includes baking instructions plus pre-measured dry ingredients and some tools. The only things you’d need from your own kitchen are the dairy, eggs, and oils!

This is the review of the Hot Cocoa Mini Whoopie Pie Baking Box! It’s currently not in stock.

The box arrived in excellent condition – it was packed inside another box.

The ingredients are packed in plastic pouches.

There’s a welcome card from The Baking Box!

At the back, there is a list of the ingredients for Whoopie Pies as well as the nutrition facts.

Another card lists everything you would need for this recipe, as well as baking tips.

The step-by-step procedure is easy to follow. It’s even accompanied with photos!

Everything in my box!

They included 4 packets inside the box as well as 3 sheets of bakeable parchment (KAF parchment is our fave). Packet 1 is King Arthur’s Unbleached All-Purpose Flour, Packet 2 is meringue powder, Packet 3 is confectioner’s sugar, and Packet 4 is chocolate sprinkles!

I started by mixing 2 eggs along with half a cup of vegetable oil and half a cup of water. Once everything was thoroughly mixed, I added Packet 1 and whisked until it was smooth.

Make sure to scrape off the sides in between whisking to make sure everything is evenly mixed!

The next step is to line a baking sheet with a piece of parchment and drop heaping teaspoonfuls of the batter, making sure they are spaced at least an inch apart. Then, bake for 9-12 minutes.

When the cake springs back slightly when touched, cool for at least five minutes before loosening them up from the parchment. Once that’s done, set them aside and proceed to the next step!

For the filling, my son used a hand mixer. He mixed Packet 2 with half a cup of warm water and beat slowly until everything is combined before increasing the speed. You’ll know it’s already done once there are stiff peaks (usually around 6-8 minutes when using a hand mixer).

Next, slowly incorporate Packet 3 while beating on low speed. Once everything is mixed well, increase the speed back to medium until fluffy. Make sure to scrape the sides and bottom in the middle of beating. Add the soft butter a tablespoon at a time while beating and if it turns into very stiff peaks, add water a teaspoon at a time and beat until you get a fluffy stiff peak.

Now it’s time to assemble them! LOOK AT THESE JIMMIES! These are the jimmies to end all jimmies and I may not be able to eat them again, unless they’re from King Arthur. I had no idea that delicate flavorful jimmies existed. Nah I’m kidding though, I’d still eat standard jimmies.

Just get two pieces of the mini round cakes that were cooled off and put a generous amount of the white filling in the middle!

Use the chocolate sprinkles to cover the sides! They are so delicate and beautiful.

Here’s what the finished product looks like! Delicious! And that cake is so dark and lovely. The ingredients list Dutch process cocoa, and not the King Arthur Double Dutch, but if you’re looking for this deep rich look, my money is on that this is double Dutch.

The cake is soft and fluffy!

The filling is also good! It’s fairly sweet but sea salt balanced everything out.

This makes a perfect dessert or snack! They did get a little squooshed out but firmed considerably in the fridge.

I loved how everything turned out! My kids enjoyed munching on these yummy pies as well.

The Baking Box is a great one-time box for those who are looking for new baking recipes to try at home. The box includes only dry ingredients, but the rest of the ingredients needed are pantry staples so I didn’t even have to worry about not having them and having to go to a store to pick some missing items up. For this box, I made Whoopie Pies with my kids and everything turned out great. The instructions are simple and easy to understand, and with the included photos, it’s really hard to go wrong. I love how soft and fluffy the cakes were and my kids were really happy about the frosting. Overall, this is such a fun box! It’s a great box to pick up even if you’re still a baking beginner!
