This month, we received a map of the historic city of Rome!
This is the review of the June map! They also listed a lot of activities that the kids can do like making sock puppets, eating Italian food, and more!
The back of the map has facts and information not just about the featured city, but also about the country. Italy is popular for its shape, which is a high heeled boot! Also, the average Italian eats more than 51 lbs. of pasta a year! These are nice things to know about Italy, and we all find these facts amusing!
Another activity is coloring slices of pizza! My kids were excited to put their own toppings on these pizza slices!
There’s also an image of a Roman guard, and it’s a color by number activity! There are numbers in the image and they will color those spaces depending on the color that corresponds to the number. For example, number 1 is for grey, 2 is for teal, and so on. The legend/list is located at the lower left of the image.
My kids looked at the image first and identified the different colors that correspond to the numbers before they started coloring it.
They started with the number that appeared most on the figure, like the number 2 which is the color teal.
Here’s the finish color-by-number activity!
They also listed the different tourist spots and attractions around the city like the Pantheon, River Tiber, Colosseum, St. Peter’s Square, Roman Forum, and the tourist-popular Trevi Fountain!
The map is enormous and it will take some time to color them all. It’s like a big page of a coloring book!
It’s nice that it’s big as the kids can color the map simultaneously!
They even tried different coloring tools to engage in some Roma-inspired artwork!!
Among these coloring materials, my younger kids preferred to use crayons. It’s easier and it glides easily on the paper that is used for the map. The color looks great too!
Here’s the map of Rome, my kids added some nice colors on some of the places and the objects.
Sunnie Press is another way for my kids to travel around the world without leaving home! It’s always fun to learn about different places and cultures, and for this month, the map took us to the beautiful city of Rome! My kids loved coloring the map, as well as the color by number activity! They also liked reading the provided facts about the featured place. If you’re looking for a new activity for your kids that doesn’t require the use of any gadget, this one fits the bill! It’s only our first map from them but we’re already loving it!
