Squawk Box is a monthly birdie care package of 4-6 bird treats, toys, and more delivered straight to your door. Because parrots, big and small, need a great amount of stimulation to thrive, Squawk Box will deliver a new selection of toys every month. Every crate is carefully curated to keep our feather friends happy and healthy!

The box is available in four sizes: Little Birdie (great for Lovebirds, Parrotlets, Cockatiels, Parakeets, Green Cheek Conure sized), Middle Birdie (great for Quakers, Conures, Senegals, Pionus, Timneh Greys, Caiques, some Mini Macaws & some small cockatoos), Big Birdie (Amazons, Cockatoos, Eclectus, and Congo African Grey sizes), and Jumbo Birdie (large Amazons, Macaws, Moluccan Cockatoos). The monthly subscription starts at $24.95 for the Little Birdie to $44.95 for the Jumbo Birdie, with significant discounts for longer subscriptions. Knowing that parrots have a long life ahead of them, and that they will destroy everything around them (including couches, books, important papers, walls), the longer subscription is definitely a must! They now ship to Australia!

Also, for each Squawk Box ordered, a percentage goes to parrot rescues. Not only do you provide fun new treats to your own bird, but you help other parrots as well!

This review is for the Little Birdie. My assistant reviewer, Kiwi the Lovebird, is finally allowed to come out of her cage, so it was time to dig in this box!

All the toys are packed with squiggles, safe for any beak to play with. Kiwi just wants to get to the toys already!

Everything in the box! Of course, you have to provide your own bird! Don’t forget to share your pictures with Squawk Box on their social media, they like to feature all their lovely Bird Customers!

Kiwi was so happy to finally have a go at her new toys!

There is no information on the content of the box, but you get a nice DIY Parrot Treat, a Did You Know about parrots and vocabulary (even though she could, Kiwi doesn’t say a word, but she knows how to communicate with us), and the Rescue of the Month. For September, part of the money from the sale of each Squawk Box goes to Parrots First in Los Angeles, CA!

Planet Pleasures Hanging Toy. I love Planet Pleasures Toys as they are all natural, and they don’t have metal or plastic parts in which a tiny little foot can get caught. Which is perfect for when your Special Needs Bird (like Kiwi) needs some foot toy when in recovery. In her special cage (without perch or bar), she likes to perch on this one, and to chew the cardboard parts.

Hanging Rope Toy. This one has little wooden pieces that Kiwi LOVES to chew and tuck the pieces in her tail. But because of her foot, we need to check on this toy quite often to prevent any of the ropes to tie themselves around her nails.

Wreath Toy. Straw balls, with a bell. This is Kiwi’s favorite from this month’s box. She loves the straw, but they always end up in her water bowl, giving it a lovely color! (The color is safe, but if your bird then bath in the water, their feather will be dyed, which is hilarious!)

Calypso Creation Pacific Perch Bamboo. I like when we receive a perch as one of the toy. Bird’s feet are so sensitive and they need different kind of perch to keep them healthy, especially if they spend a lot of time in their cage. As part as her foot rehabilitation, Kiwi needs different kind of perches because she puts most of her weight on one foot, so this one is perfect. And she can pull all the paper out if she feels destructive!

Tropical Carnival Oat Spray. Even thought it doesn’t mention birds on the package, it is totally safe for pet birds. Squawk Box even sent their subscribers an email about it.

It has come to our attention that some of your Oat Spray treats may not have a bird on the packaging! Our friends, FM Brown’s offers all natural Oat Sprays that appeal to all sorts of animals, so while some of you may have accidentally gotten a bunny on your Oat Spray package, have no fear because it is still for your bird.

What is Oat Spray and how does it benefit my bird?

Natural Oat Spray Foraging Treats are grown and harvested in the USA with the flavor and goodness that nature intended. FM Brown’s protein-packed oats are nutritious and fun to eat.

Squawk Box has a really amazing customer service!

It smells like grass!

Kiwi is not yet impressed! My husband said to give it time, she’ll get around to liking it.

Another great Squawk Box!

Kiwi found the bell!

Kiwi and I love Squawk Box as it is great to discover new toys, and maybe new favorites. After her bad injuries this summer, I was happy to have a variety of toys safe for her new situation, and enjoyable to keep her happy throughout her ordeal. Now that she’s back on her two feet (kinda), she can enjoy her bells once more! (Oh, how she was missing them!)

I’m impressed by the variety of toys available out there as Kiwi has been subscribed to Squawk Box for a while now and she only received the same toy once or twice! It’s fun to get a box of new toys and treats to discover, instead of spending countless hours at the pet store in front of a very limited selection to end up buying the same toy over and over again! And sometimes, your bird will surprise you by loving a toy or treat you were sure it would hate!

Chirp!
