The box includes an information card noting the coffee selection included in your order. They change up their bean selections every quarter. Sudden Coffee stands above classic instant coffee for a few reasons: The selections are all single-origin, so the flavor profile is more interesting and less monotone (read, “blended until boring”); the beans are all Arabica, so they have bright, floral and fruit nuances that you don’t find in the Robustas used in the big-name instant coffees; and their crystallization process avoids the typical burnt flavor of instant (again, a product of the over-roasting needed to mellow the off-flavors of Robusta beans).

The info card tells you a bit about the coffee. I wish it had some info on the process used (e.g. washed, natural, etc), as this can have as big an impact on flavor as the choice of beans. Brewing is easy — just mix with hot water and enjoy.

Everything inside the box! Each tube makes a nice mug of coffee.

This month, they included a Sudden Coffee sticker in the package.

All the sample coffee tubes are placed inside this reusable drawstring pouch!

Sudden Coffee 8 Cup Plan Cristalina coffee is named after La Cristalina Coffee Cooperative from Colombia. It is a medium roast coffee with notes of fresh melon, juicy fruit gum, and chocolate chip cookies.

The company is ecologically conscious, and their coffee tubes are compostable — the cap is recyclable. The tubes are handy for travel or having in your desk or purse for an emergency coffee supply.

This tasty coffee was created using a state-of-the-art method to fully brew the coffee prior to crystallizing.

It was also dehydrated at a subzero temperature to lock-in complex aromatic scent.

The grains are so fine. They actually resemble crushed cookies!

One tube was enough to make one cup of coffee. The brew has a deep brown color, more of a porter-like color than a stout. The flavor is commensurately bright, with low bitterness and nice chocolate and fruit notes. The flavor is pleasant enough to enough black, or with just a hint of sweetener.

The aroma is nice. It doesn’t flood the room like brewing a pot does, but the cup itself has an enjoyable nose.  The flavor was nuanced and well-developed, with the medium roast proving appropriate for this bean.

Sudden Coffee is a great subscription for any coffee lover or enthusiast. It gives you a chance to enjoy a variety of high-quality coffee from different parts of the world without breaking the bank. Also, their coffee is crystallized and packed in a tube, making it so easy to bring with you wherever you go. I like Cristalina’s aroma and bright fruity taste. It’s perfect whether for a morning drink or a mid-day pick me up. I am looking forward to more great tasting coffee blends from this subscription!
