nmnl is a monthly Japanese beauty subscription box by the brains behind Tokyo Treat and Yume Twins. They promise to deliver a Japanese beauty experience curated by people familiar with the current trends in Japan.

DEAL: Save $3 on your first box! Use coupon code 3off.

The information booklet has information about the products. I noticed this month the booklet was a bit more in-depth and even included a feature on Canmake, one of the cosmetics companies included!

I really like this small addition to the booklet.

Hello Kitty Bath Bomb — Yaaaaay, a licensed Sanrio product! I consider bath salts and bombs to be kind of a filler item, since they’re single use — but it’s Hello Kitty and it’s adorable. It has a fresh, clean, soapy fragrance. The duck bill made me laugh.

Facial Exercise Tool — Japan loves their gadgets for working facial muscles; it’s said to promote bloodflow, reduce wrinkles, and restore collagen among other benefits. You bite down on the inner part for 10 seconds, then release and repeat three times a day to strengthen your facial muscles.

My Melody Sheetmask — Woohoo, another Sanrio item! I’m loving this box so far. I love My Melody, and this mask is super cute. It has antioxidant red wine in the essence.

Silicone Cat Mask — This was one of the spoilers and I was super excited for it. It’s a thin, flexible, silicone face mask you wear over top of a sheet mask to hold it on your face while you go about your day.

It has ear loops as well as chin straps. The mask is a bit too long for my face, which I find with regular sheet masks too, but it wasn’t too tight and felt comfortable to wear.

Country & Stream Apple First Essence ($18.29) — I love Country & Stream, and nmnl has sent three of their products out including this one, all of which I have loved. This is an essence containing apple extract. It’s in a spray bottle which I found interesting, as I’m used to the more thick essences from Korea that you apply with your fingertips. It’s mineral oil free, ethanol free, paraben free, fragrance free (though it smells a bit like apples), silicone free and petroleum free among some other claims Google Translate kind of butchered. Unfortunately, it’s now discontinued so I hope I don’t fall in love with it too much!

Canmake Sherbert Eyeliner — I love Canmake products, their blushes are my favourite. With their princessy packaging, they’re actually really affordable so I was excited to see nmnl include an eyeliner. It’s a shimmer pink colour.

The March box was great. It had a clear hero item (Canmake!) as well as some fun beauty tools that scream “Japan!” I am a big Country & Stream fan, and there were even two licensed Sanrio products! I had a chance recently to provide feedback directly to nmnl about what I feel the box could improve on, and they were really receptive and interested in hearing my suggestions. One of my suggestions was improvements on the info booklet, to provide more information on the brands featured as well as ingredients, and I definitely feel like they’re heading in that direction with the month’s feature on Canmake. I am excited to see how things go in the upcoming months.
