The Desert Box is a subscription that aims to bring your desert dreams to your doorstep. Monthly, bimonthly, and quarterly plans are available, and you can also purchase a one-time box. All their products are made from recycled goods, from packaging to planters. Each box usually includes a surprise succulent and/or a cactus, repurposed planter, soil, moss, plant care card, and a pouch of white granite pebbles.

You can get your subscription in The Uno (one plant per month) or The Dos. This is a review of The Uno! The label isn’t just there to look nice — it’s also a friendly warning to handle the contents gently because it might be a prickly cactus!

This card gives you tips on how to take care of your cactus and succulents. It also provides a little background about The Desert Box.

Everything inside the box!

The box also comes with these decorative white stone. I believe it is quartz.

Plants from The Desert Box usually come well packed…

However, the paper squiggles they included this month weren’t enough to protect our plant. The top got a little mangled in transit, and a few leaves detached from the stem. The rest of the plant was intact, so we plan to treat it normally and see how it fares.

This month’s featured succulent is a jade plant with the scientific name Crassula Ovata. They are also known as friendship tree, lucky plant, or money tree. Its leaves are thick, shiny, and smooth, which grow in opposing pairs along the branches. The plant is native in Africa and Mozambique.

The Jade plant is not hard to grow and maintain. They only require little amount of water, and they can live for years.

It’s just a bit sad that these leaves were detached, but I think the plant will still survive and flourish when given enough care.

It’ll be just a matter of time to make it return in its beautiful form!

Sometimes, mishaps happen during delivery but I believe that what happened here is an isolated incident (we’ve received this box several times, and this is the first time we’ve seen any damage). It’s still a great decoration for our home, and I’m looking forward to more cacti and succulents from this subscription! The plants from Desert Box are usually low-maintenance and easy to grow, which are ideal not just for succulent lovers but also for busy people. These plants, aside from being great addition to any home, can also be great housewarming presents. A great way to bring nature indoors!

Do you love succulents as much as we do?
