September’s Beauty Discovery is Beauty Drops PM Maqui Berry.

When faced with the ethical dilemma of either continuing to source an ingredient that compromised her sustainability standards, or discontinue her Hero product, Annie Tevelin did the only thing she knew to do: travel halfway around the world on an inspiration quest. Her journey led her to Patagonia where she discovered the tiny and mighty purple maqui berry. A native superfruit of Chile, this sweet super-berry was revered by the Mapuche Indians for their high concentration of a delphinidins, a type of polyphenol that delivers potent anti-inflammatory benefits. Because most skin conditions stem from inflammation, maqui has been studied and may help calm acne flareups, rosacea and hyper-pigmentation when applied topically or taken internally.

Beauty Drops PM Maqui Berry is a triumphant return to a legacy formula, Beauty Drops PM Mangosteen. The ingredient update delivers a bigger boost of antioxidants in the same base of organic baobab to calm inflammation, reduce acne flareups and smooth skin texture.

September’s Beauty Discovery is valued at $113.

The information card is loaded with info on this month’s brand and featured items!

Every month includes instructions on how to use the included products, plus an extended expert beauty ritual.

Every Beauty Hero box comes with its own sidekick item, and this month, it’s Beauty Whip Maqui Berry.

The booklet comes with useful information like the product ingredients and a short history of this month’s featured company.

Everything in the September 2017 Beauty Heroes box!

Skin Owl Beauty Drops PM Maqui Berry ($85) This is a really interesting story – it’s a reformulation of Skin Owl’s hero product, which formerly used mangosteen, which has grown scarce.

The mangosteen replacement – maqui berry – has 10x the antioxidants and its in the same organic baobab base, which calms inflammation, reduces acne, and smooths skin.

This oil is on the drier side (i.e., it’s not greasy) and it smells great with tangerine and vanilla essential oils! The maqui has a high concentration of delphinidins, another anti-inflammatory, plus it helps with hyper-pigmentation and rosacea.

The directions for use walk you through application on the skin, and the expert ritual involves a beauty steam. I still have designs on a facial steamer this year!

Skin Owl Beauty Whip Maqui Berry ($28) The booklet recommends keeping this product in the fridge – it’s a luxurious whip of maqui berry, organic olive oil, and aloe vera infused with anti-aging DMAE and tissue building MSM.

The bottle is about 2/3 full. It’s a heavily moisturizing product that has multiple uses – as a hydrating mask, an overnight mask, or a radiant primer. I used it as a lotion over the beauty drops, but I have dry skin.

Another wow month from this natural beauty subscription with $149 in value! I love the thoughtful picks of targeted beauty rituals and I always keep the products I receive from this box (as long as they’re suitable!) on a special tray at my desk, so I remember to hydrate, moisturize, and whatever else Beauty Heroes wants me to do. This subscription is really perfect for moisture-loving skincare fiends!
