Little Thinker Box by Kidable Adventures is a preschool subscription box for ages 3-6. The Little Thinker Box includes four components: Read, Create, Explore,  and Learn. The Learn component is divided into three different levels: Head Start, Pre-K, and Kindergarten. Choose the level that’s right for your child!

The March theme was Astronomer. Awesome!

The box is always packed in a really neat manner, with the supplies for each lesson segment bagged separately. By breaking up the theme into four components (reading, creating, exploring, and learning), Little Thinker Box makes its lessons really accessible and down-to-earth. You could easily do a component per week, or you could work through all of the activities on a rainy weekend.

All the actual instructions plus the parental guidance is included, along with all the supplies! The Read, Create, Explore, and Learn format was designed based on customer and expert feedback. I like the bit of structure it lends to the boxes – the numerous activities are more manageable conceptualized in smaller bites.

The separate bagging of components makes it really easy to focus on one kind of activity at a time. Apart from the reading component, which is a National Geographic Kids short book, each component contains several activities.

Smartfood Delight White Cheddar Popcorn ($0.35): They also throw in a healthy snack – you can’t learn on an empty stomach!

National Geographic Kids: Planets ($3.49): The reading component is a really cool book published by National Geographic Kids. This month’s is appropriately focused on planets.

It covers planet Earth and beyond.

The style is fun and light, and the material is broken down into digestible bits so it’s not intimidating.

The book is a great way to get your Little Thinker geared up for doing the activities!

This book is a Level 2, and it is perfect for our kindergartener to read on his own.

This feature is a clever way to encourage involvement by both kids and parents.

The Explore component is about learning all we can about the stars and planets.

It includes fact cards, stickers, lacing cards, and more!

The info sheet teaches us about each planet in our solar system, and it serves as a primer for the memory game.

The Create component is all about active learning through crafts and other fun activities.

There is a little something for everyone in this segment.

Stickers are always a hit!

The kit included a cardboard play telescope with a plastic lens.

We had both star and round “planet” stickers with which to decorate it.

My son is partial to the planets.

The air-drying modeling clay was for making a crater-pocked moon, complete with American flag.

The Learn component incorporates several games that work on letter, number, color, shape, and pattern recognition. The games are grouped by age level, but kids are encouraged to try as many as they want, regardless of recommended age.

The materials for this component are several printed game boards, and some wooden and eraser stars.

Our favorite was the color matching. I agree with their suggestion of trying each game regardless of age. The instructions do a good job of included directions for each activity that are catered to the capabilities of a specific age range. For my youngest, I read the color names and let him pick out the star that matched the stated color.

My older son was a pro at this one.
