Amoda Tea is a Canadian premium tea subscription. Each month hand-selected teas are sent out, from all over North America and beyond. They source the tea from small companies to support them and help them grow. There are two flavours of box available — the original and low-caffeine. This is a review of the original box. Both cost $20, have free shipping to Canada/US (no international shipping yet), and you can also add on some extra bonuses like a travel set, a teaspoon, or more filters if you are a tea-drinking monster like me. They also have a tasty tea guarantee — if you don’t like a tea in your box, they’ll replace it in your next box!

Every month they also send a super cute tea postcard! I send these to my tea-loving friends and my penpals.

The info card has a great layout and everything is easy to find including social media and discount codes! June’s box brings some teas that will make awesome iced teas!

Caramel Apple: This one IMMEDIATELY called to me — candy apples! With a twist of orange and hibiscus as well.

Almond Toffee Pu-erh: I don’t normally reach for pu-erh — it has an earthy sort of flavour which can taste fishy. But I think this smells amazing and I will give it a try. This is caffeinated too, and is a good energy boost!

Himalayan Golden: Mmmmm, basic black tea. You can never go wrong, especially since this tastes great hot OR cold. I like adding a twist of lemon!

Willapia White Lavender: I’m not a big lavender fan but I will at least give this a taste at one point — it has lemon verbena and rose, which are two of my favourite ingredients. This smells floral but not too sweet.

I made a glass of iced tea using the Himalayan Golden black tea. You can hot brew it and then put it in the fridge overnight to chill, but I prefer this method. I use a big heaping teaspoon and only about half an inch of hot water. I steep it about twice as long (depending on the leaf — black teas are heartier and don’t get bitter, whereas white and green teas absolutely do) to make a sort of flavour “shot”. Then I pour the steeped tea over ice and add cold water to top it up!

The colour is so pretty!

I really love Amoda Tea! I consider myself picky and so sometimes I don’t love ALL the teas, but it’s fun sampling and trying everything. I’ve found some favourites in the boxes I’ve been sent so far. It’s reasonably priced and it fits in your mailbox — perfect for yourself or a tea loving friend!
