They are currently testing out additional subscription options – check that info out here.

This is a review of the new Birchbox Low Effort, High Impact Curated Box, which is now available in the Birchbox Shop!

Longer (warmer!) days are upon us, which means more time to enjoy those fun moments we look forward to all year—and less cause for primping. We’re helping you streamline your routine (but still feel your best self) with effortless products that deliver big results.

You can visit Birchbox.com/MyBox to easily see the details of your box, which I recommend because sometimes they have videos on the item product pages which I find useful.

The information card gives brief details on each item as well as the price if you were to buy the full size.

Everything in the May 2017 Birchbox Low Effort, High Impact Curated Box!

Clarins UV Plus Anti-Pollution Sunscreen SPF 50 ($0.86) This is a drier product, so perfect for oilier skin or damper days. I liked that this one uses titanium dioxide, I find that it’s most effective for my skin (it also uses chemical sunscreens).

Manna Kadar Cosmetics Glo Illuminator ($4.35) Unbelievably I haven’t tried this Manna Kadar product. If you’re not a regular subscription box addict, FYI, this brand shows up regularly, in full-sizes, in many other boxes.  The information cad says just a drop will give you subtle shimmer, and really, it was quite subtle. In some ways that’s better than Temptu, which is insanely pigmented, but this sample will get used up quickly.

FYI – it has a cute rounded lip balm applicator, like a Maybelline lip gloss.

M·A·C Cosmetics False Lashes Mascara ($23 fullsize – $5?) M·A·C at Birchbox, I couldn’t be happier! For me this is a high quality defining mascara that’s black, black, black. The only downside is that seems more like a trial sample than a travel sample. Usually when mascara samples don’t come with a size listed they’re about half the size, but I wouldn’t give this sample that benefit of the doubt! I didn’t get a lot of volume out of this mascara, hoping to try some others soon, though.

COOLA SPF 50 Sport in Fresh Mango ($2.18) Well, it’s a bit odd that this box includes 2 sunscreens, but this one’s sweat-proof and water-resistant with a fresh mango scent.

Ouai Wave Spray ($5.20) I felt like this spray gave some nice texture to my fine hair without weighing it down! This product is scented with Ouai No. 2 Fragrance, containing notes of Italian lemon, amber, and white musk. It goes on sticky but gives so much volume. I love this product.

Well, this was definitely a box of samples for when you want to do the basics but not spend forever primping! It’s also a pretty low-effort box from Birchbox – I estimated about $18 in value, and I don’t think the novelty of having M·A·C in my box overcomes that. If you wanted to try the beauty products and needed some sunscreens to sample, this is a decent box, but by no means a wow box! But I’ll give it high impact for 2 sunscreens, which are always a Good Thing!
