ENSOMA Box delivers a monthly subscription box filled with items that encourage you to be happy and have balance in life.

The box appears very plain from the exterior, marked only with a stamped “E,” but the inside is very elegant.

The contents are cushioned gently in wood straw, and lovely gilded enveloped greeted us as soon as we opened the box.

It contained a short welcome message from the founding partners of ENSOMA Box. It contains a secret code granting access to ENSOMA’s online resources.

The theme for December 2016 is Hygge. This word encapsulates the Scandinavian concept of “coziness,” or comfort in one’s home that enables them to weather the long winters.

The information card gives you the list of items in this box, which are meant to be enjoyed through your 5 senses.

Everything in my December 2016  box!

New Moon Tea Co. Gluhwein Mulling Spices: This blend of spices is meant to transform ordinary wine into a comforting warm beverage to enjoy with family and friends.  It can also be used with cider or juice for a non-alcoholic version. The herb blend has a uniquely Scandinavian character, with fennel and cardamon joining the expected cinnamon, anise, citrus peel, and cloves.

A cloth bag is included for easy steeping.

WoodWick Evening Bonfire Crackling Candle ($24.95): The scent of this candle isn’t as woody or smoky as one would assume from the name. It has a slightly spicy and musky sweet character.

This candle is quite unique.  The wick is made from an X-shaped length of wood, causing the candle burn with a crackling effect.

The jar has a pleasing concave shape and includes a tight-sealing wooden lid.

The wooden fins on the wick also activate the scent of the candle more readily than a standard wick, making the candle better at quickly scenting your home.

Hilda’s Pepparkakar Cookies in a Jar: This jar contains all the dry ingredients for a big batch of Swedish gingersnaps!

The authentic Ball jar is a great reusable bonus item, and you can use the mouth of the jar to cut out your cookies.

The directions are very simple, calling for equal portions of butter, molasses, and cream.

ENSOMA Exclusive Dominoes: The box included a full set of dominoes in a custom wooden box.

The box features a sliding lid with a dominoes-inspired design branded into the wood.

The dominoes themselves are a bright, soapy cobalt blue.

Each domino has a brass-colored pin in the center of the face. When face-down, the pin prevents the domino from laying completely flat, making it easier to pick up.

I love the finish on the dominoes. They are smooth, and heavily rounded at the corners. They have a powdery look that suits the cobalt well.

ENSOMA provides a pleasant ensemble of items intended to improve some aspect of your life. This box focused on making your home a more pleasant and comforting place. I liked that everything in the box was considered for how it engaged your senses and created a total experience. I’m curious to see how the online content develops and how the personal counseling and support options are handled for the more self-improvement focused editions of the box.
