Now, that's a pop of color!
Now, that’s a pop of color!

This month’s Stitch Fix is as bright and cheery as one would hope a spring-time fix would be.  As I opened the box, I was delighted to see the bold colors, and I couldn’t wait to tear into that tissue paper.

Stitch Fix is a personal styling service. Your stylist will send you 5 pieces based on your profile for you to try on at home! There are no coupons for Stitch Fix but if you hit the jackpot and keep everything, you save 25% on your whole fix (read below for details).

Here’s how Stitch Fix works: fill out your style profile! This includes style, budget, what you’re looking for, and you can get as detailed as you want with the notes to your stylist. It really really does help to provide notes to what you’re seeking, and a Pinterest board if you have one.  You will be charged a $20 styling fee and shipped five items to try on at home. If you keep anything your styling fee will be applied to your order, but if you don’t, you will pay the $20 fee. This is so worth it. If you keep everything you get a 25% discount, so it pays off to be specific. You will check out and get charged through your Stitch Fix account. Every box includes a set of styling cards with suggestions on how to wear the particular item. There’s usually a dressed up and dressed down version for each piece of clothing.

I updated my style profile this month to indicate I really wanted some tops.  I have zero work travel scheduled right now, and I have been shedding inches (no travel = more working out and less eating out), so I really don’t need anything for work. My stylist did not disappoint!

I am in love with this color.  Lately I have been on a cobalt blue kick. I don’t love it with this color denim – I would probably wear this with my new grey jeans (from my May Dia & Co box). The fabric is a crepe, very light and airy, and thankfully, not too sheer. That is definitely my pet peeve – so many cute tops are sheer, and then I need a cami, the right colored bra, etc.

Fun2Fun Walden V-neck BlouseLove! Love the color, love the simplicity!  I wish it were a smidge longer – I feel like if I lift my arms, my love handles will be on display, but that is true for a lot of things – tall girl problems! (I am 5’10.) Another nice light crepe fabric, great for spring.

Love the color, but not really in love with the shape of this one. The color in the pics on me is the most true to color. Another light crepe, not too sheer.  This one definitely feels too short when I move around. I do tend to think that some shirts are better with skirts (which sit higher on me) and others are meant for pants.  Alas, I am lazy and didn’t try this one on with a skirt because I really wasn’t that into it. Apparently, i was also not into doing my hair. Disaster!

This is one I pinned a while back.  I thought the cut looked really promising and the color is great. I love that my stylist sent it to me.  Alas, I didn’t love it as much in person. The pleats in the front were too spread out on me and I wasn’t in love with the sleeves.  Usually I like a cap sleeve, especially with some detail, but this one just puffed up on my shoulders – again, it may just have been a little too small on me.  I tend to wear a 14 or XL top, so this should have been close to fitting, but just not quite.

I was excited to see this print when I unwrapped my fix, but less excited when I put it on.  Too sheer to wear without a cami, which always annoys me, and it didn’t feel super flattering. Not the worst thing I have ever put on, but certainly not the best.  But I did love the print.  Ellie, for elephant? Adorbs!  Also adorable? My kitty, also named Ellie.  You may have seen her in the occasional pic, as she likes to sit by and watch the fashion show when my boxes arrive.

I am very happy with the direction my stylist is going. I appreciate that my stylist takes my feedback into account – I asked for bright tops, and I asked for less expensive items this time around, and I received both. I love several items, and even though I am not keeping everything, even ending up with one or two items each fix feels great and keeps my wardrobe interesting!
