May is the month where you can chose a blue palm leaf basket or brass bottle stopper! GlobeIn Artisan Gift Box is a monthly subscription box full of artisan goods from producers all over the world. GlobeIn sources its products exclusively from non-profits, artisan collectives and other organizations that ensure a fair wage is paid to the artisans and farmers.
May is all about water. I took the pictures the other day while going through a list of things that were going wrong in my life. The quote got me thinking about what changes I could make in my life to start watering my grass.
The theme for May is Hydrate!
We are thrilled to share that we have partnered with Water.org, a nonprofit that pioneers safe water and sanitation solutions around the world for our May Artisan Box.
On this blue planet, water is the ultimate elixir. Everything is better that’s hydrated—your body, your mood, your pets, your plants. This month’s kit offers your hydration efforts both practicality and pizazz.
Of course, water is no luxury—it’s a basic human right. So it seemed appropriate to partner up this month with Water.org, an organization working to bring safe water to all 663 million people around the world who currently lack it. This month, your drink is also someone else’s.
The booklet contains a curator letter and the story of each artisan featured in the box.
I was curious whether I would receive the May swapout item. I could not tell from my sneak peeks.
No basket! I wonder which brass bottle stopper I will be receiving? T, age 17, is hoping for an elephant bottle stopper to add to his elephant collection.
Here are the items for the May 2016 Globein Artisan Box. I received a Mommy and Baby (boy, of course!) giraffe bottle stopper.
My 7 year old was fascinated by the Trashy Bag Upcycled Tote ($15.00) once I pointed out to him it was made out of recycled water containers.
It has a zipper that also doubles as the bottom of the bag.
Trashy Bags is a social enterprise in Accra, Ghana that employs over 40 people. The employees collect, clean, and create recycled totes and gifts from plastic trash.
It’s a solid tote that will hold up to many shopping trips! J was disappointed that it was too small for him to use for hide and seek.
The Conscious Coconut Oil ($15.00) is made by farmers and suppliers engaged in Fair Trade practices. The packaging takes place at the MacDonald Training Center, Tampa, Florida by adults with development disabilities. A child receives a meal from Feeding America food banks with every purchase.
I tried to find information about the cap. It feels like it is made from bamboo.
The information card provides excellent information about the uses of coconut oil. I used the tube today to remove a lipstick swatch from my arm. It is USDA organic, cold press, virgin coconut oil. My family will be using it for various needs.
The Hand Blown Glass Vessel ($15.00) is a beautiful glass piece handcrafted by 8-14 glassmakers working as a team.
It was a rainy day, but the sunlight cast an iridescent look to the glass.
Cristaluc employs 40 local artisans giving them a steady income as they work in the city of Tonala in the Mexican state of Jalisco. I love the colors reflecting off the glass and can see all different type of colors! I love the glass and think it is beautiful. I can’t decide whether to use it as drinkware or as a vase.
The Zambeezi Lip Balm ($3.00) is made from mungongo oil and beeswax sourced from the forests of central Africa. The company brings jobs to widows and helps prevent forests from being destroyed. It felt soothing on my lips.
How cute is the Mommy and Baby Giraffe Brass Bottle Stopper ($10.00)? The brass stopper is the May swapout item that can you opt for in place of receiving the GlobeIn Signature Handwoven Basket ($12.00). It can be used as a wine or vinegar stopper.
The designs will vary. The bottle stopper is created by Roots of Creation. Swahili Modern has developed a relationship with them to pay the artisans fair for their work and on time. T, age 17, gave me a mommy and baby giraffe statue years ago when he was little. I am going to display the stopper next to the statue.
This box is still available until it’s sold out! The total value of this month was about $58. My family and I enjoyed opening the box and checking out all the items. I love the glass and the bottle stopper. J has big plans for the tote. The coconut oil and lip balm have already been put to use! I am leaning towards using the glass as a vase and place it on the outdoor table. Imagine all the colors on a brightly sunny day!

What a lovely box and review! The vase is gorgeous and you know I love tube creams. I think the wine stoppers are a great substitute to the baskets and I love the parent/child giraffe that you received it is very sweet.
Thank You 🙂
Your pictures were beautifully done.
Thank you:)
