boxwalla beauty february 2016 box

The Boxwalla Beauty Box contains non-toxic and cruelty-free products sourced from artisans in the US. Boxwalla is a bi-monthly subscription service that offers four themes – natural beauty, artisanal food, international film, or books! In Boxwalla you’ll be able to discover great artisans and artists from across the globe.  After your first box you can switch themes, but of course you can subscribe to more than one box as well!

The packaging for this box is absolutely gorgeous. The box itself is sort of like a luxe cotton rag paper covered box handcrafted by artisans in Rajasthan, India (none of whom are children). The outside indicates which box you received.

The information card is a letter from “The Drunken Boxwallas” detailing each of the products. The theme for this box is Cleopatra.

When we think of Cleopatra’s beauty ritual- we think of pampering ingredients like rose water and honey and goatsmilk : ingredients that are nourishing and indulgent. To this roster of decadence we add a few more of our favorite skin softening ingredients : Shea butter, cacoa butter, mango butter, buriti oil, sea buckthorn oil, aloe, tamanu oil. A touch of cocoa essence, some amber. Sensual tuberose wax, orange flower absolute.

What we’ve come up with is a box filled with some of our favorite luxuries for our skin. A box to channel your inner Cleopatra and pamper your skin and body including an indispensable piece of makeup that will nourish your skin while adding a natural flush of color.

And the items themselves are sealed up with a cute sticker.

Everything in the February Boxwalla Beauty Box!

Lalun Naturals Winter Rose Toner ($5.50) This is called a toner but it’s really more of a skin hydrator, made with aloe, honey, and scented with rose petals. It’s made for winter (no alcohol in this formula!) and I just love the idea of a line of skincare that’s designed for the seasons. The rose scent is quite strong.

Lalun Naturals Moon Butter ($18?) Despite being a whipped butter this is quite firm in the jar, and you’ll likely need the included spatula. The letter suggested using on the face. While I thought that a bit odd, I tried it out anyways. It has a beautiful chocolate scent due to the cocoa butter and is also scented with night blooming flowers and infused with healing oils like calendula. I loved it! I thought the name was great too. Moon flowers for night time!

RMS Beauty Skin2Skin Blush Brush ($34)

RMS Beauty Lip2Cheek in Smile ($36)boxwalla beauty february 2016 IMG_6208

All subscribers received this shade, which is a pretty coral. It’s a simple cream lip/cheek tint. FYI rms beauty is very upfront with when their formulations might not contain what’s expected and this one includes a synthetic pigment (it says so on the back of the box).

Although rms beauty is really devoted to applying all your makeup with your fingers (which does get gross) they included a vegan brush that does the job just like your fingers and deposits product without picking it back up. I’m super excited to have a blush brush formulated for use with cream blushes and will use this all the time – it did a great job!).

Cocoapink Goatmilk and Honey Lotion in Signature White ($11.99) A nice big bottle of thin yet soothing lotion. Subscribers received one of two scents – Signature White or Orange+Amber. The latter scent was custom blended for Boxwalla, and I thought it odd that all boxes didn’t include that scent. Signature white is scented with shea blossoms, rice flower, vanilla cream, and heliotrope and a nice light fragrance that fits the theme (although I totally want to try all their dessert sounding flavors – dessert is my flavorite).

This was an amazing luxury beauty box once again. I’m totally a fan – and with about $105.5 in value, Boxwalla is doing an awesome job packing it in to this subscription. Natural beauty boxes tend to have lower values, so I’m impressed.

I am so totally impressed with this box. It is only their second box and they are including high quality stuff such as RMS. Plus wasn’t it fun to get brands you have not seen in other boxes?! Loving this box.

Don’t be afraid to check out the fragrances at Cocoa Pink. She has a huge list to choose from with many of them her own exclusive blends. They last forever on me!

Normally I wouldn’t be interested in a box like this and I am not sure what made me even read this review ??? BUT…. I am so impressed with this box. About as far as I go with anything remotely close to this box is Ipsy lol but I believe I would enjoy this one so much !!! Everything caught my eye and tickled my fancy. Breaking this $50.00 bi-monthly box into $25.00 a month and how much was packed into it I think it is one of the best boxes I have ever seen in the category of beauty. I know some boxes are hit or miss for everyone and with that being said I am almost afraid to try it because I may not like anything next month as themes can be so different month to month. Maybe after I check out a couple more months I will be able to tell if it’s really for me or not. Brandy…. I love all of your reviews but this one really stood out to me !!! From the descriptions to the photos you just hit this one dead on. It was so beautifully done and you did this box justice to say the least !!! Thank you so much for the time you take to share all of the details of each subscription. Great job 🙂

I loved Boxwalla’s first box… This one, not so much. I really like the Moon Butter, but everything else was a miss. I don’t like some of the ingredients in the body lotion. The cheek tint was extremely hard and not usable on the lips (which is what I was going to use it for). I tossed it after trying it once. I have no use for the rosewater due to my skin type. Idk — this box was a total miss for me.

Bummer. What I do with a lot of the natural beauty products is stick them in my bra before using if they tend to be hard!
