January 2016 BoxyCharm Subscription Box Review & Coupon

BoxyCharm is a makeup and beauty subscription box that sends out 4-5 deluxe and full size samples every month. They’re mostly full-size products (4 full size and one deluxe sample) and the boxes have been able to maintain a consistently high value. The outer box has been redesigned and is now sleek and black.

Royal and Langnickel Revolution Boxycharm Brush Set ($23.97) These brushes feature matte black handles and vegan bristles. I was more than happy with them – I thought they were fantastic, and used the middle brush for swatches – it’s my new swatching brush!

I was highly impressed with the ability of the brushes to lay down pigment without too much fallout, and extras are always handy!

Starlooks Luxe Longwear Eyeliner Pen ($19) This was only an alright basic for me – the black isn’t super dark and the wear wasn’t crazy long – my arm swatch has nearly worn off about 12 hours later (and I admit – I didn’t take a shower after swatching). I liked that it was paraben free however.

Blinc Mascara Amplified ($26) I really wasn’t sure how this was going to work – I’d never tried Blinc, which is a tube-forming buildable mascara. I applied it using the front facing camera of my phone but still was able to pull off the application. I really loved it and I will be using this one especially if I think I’ll have a really long day.

I was surprised that the formula actually was buildable, too. I was afraid that the tube concept might prevent that, but it applied just like the brush would suggest.

And there’s some tubes!

Coastal Scents Revealed Smoky Palette ($20) Boxycharm usually features new Revealed palettes as soon as they come out. This one was my favorite. FYI, Boxycharm lists this as a $39.95 value – you can always get them for $20, so the value of this month’s box didn’t actually reach the over $100 that they usually area, but I’m ok with 4x the value.

The colors are great, and they are swatched below (I swatched the first line left to right and then the second, starting from my wrist, which is a little confusing, but you can use the blue to figure that out). And seriously, that crease brush is fantastic!

I thought the theme for this month was so clever and I was impressed with the curation – especially that Boxycharm went out and sourced an exclusive set of brushes as the perfect accompaniment to the rest of the items!
