Luxury Barber is a monthly men’s shaving and grooming subscription box. Every month you’ll receive at least ten samples from a variety of categories, including shaving, skin products, and body products.
The inside box is nice and sturdy and perfect for storing your goods.
Everything came nicely packed!
All the items in my September Luxury Barber Box. This subscription has many items to try — there are 9 sample-size items, an intermediate size cleanser, and a full-size conditioner!
Regenepure Intense Volumizing Biotin Hair Conditioner: There are so many shaving and face products available for men now, the that Luxury Barber Box could have easily omitted this item. True to the box’s name, they’ve reminded us that barbers also work with your hair by including this huge, full-size conditioner. It has tea tree and jojoba to moisturize and smooth, as well as peptides, keratin, and silk proteins to strengthen. The retail value of this item alone covers the lion’s share of the subscription price.
Fresh Richie Men’s Discreet Cleansing Body Wipes: These individually-packaged wipes are perfect for throwing in a gym bag, dopp kit, or suitcase for a quick, refreshing cleanse when a full wash is not possible.
Billy Jealousy White Knight Gentle Daily Facial Cleanser: Winner of Men’s Health’s award for best facial cleanser. I am using this as my current facial cleanser, and I find it does a great job of not over-drying while de-greasing. It also has a light scent and no powerful menthols or other oils or astringents to irritate your skin or eyes. This 2 0z bottle is bigger than most samples and is a $5 value (the 8 oz full-size is valued at $20).
Dr. Rubin’s Batch 36 Pomade: This smooth and tackless pomade has a slightly tropical smell, a really faint whiff of Hawaiian Tropic coconut lotion.
MLA Skincare Multivitamin Serum: This vitamin-loaded serum hydrates, renews, and revitalizes tired skin.
Elvado Classic Fragrance Free Shaving Brush Soap: coconut oil and Shea butter make this fragrance-free lather bar easy on your skin. The ingredients have the slightest natural scent of pure oils, but no strong fragrance. If your regimen includes moisturizers, aftershave, balm, lotions, etc., this brush soap may be what you need to cut out a redundant layer of fragrance.
RazoRock Bay Rum Artisan Shaving Soap: Sweet Caribbean spice permeates the aroma of this creamy soap. I believe it is predominately clove and allspice.
The creamy texture is not entirely uniform — you can see how the tiny reservoirs of oils and “butter” are not completely emulsified.
Havana Aftershave Balm: a hint of spice and musk team up with banana (I swear I smell it) to lend a Cuban flair to this aftershave balm. I would classify as a lotion, based on the light and non-viscous texture.
St. James of London Cedarwood & Clarysage Post-Shave Gel: Clarysage oil is known for its anti-anxiety and anti-septic properties, making it a perfect functional and thematic complement to the stateliness of cedar in this after-shave treatment.
The Gentleman’s Refinery Black Ice Shave Cream: licorice and menthol create an enchanting scent in this ultra-silky and plump-textured shave cream. It displays a surprising lack of slickness and great smoothness.
Shark DE Blades: Super thin and flexible, these stainless blades are designed to fit most replaceable-razor shafts.
This box is a really wonderful sampler and resupply box. The items and sizes in which they are offered is well thought out — the multiple shave creams and balms are tiny trial sizes, while the one-off cleanser and conditioner are big bottles meant to see daily use. I liked the choice of items, too. They were unique, interesting, and varied, but none were odd enough that I wouldn’t use them.
