Surprise Ride is a monthly activity subscription box for kids. Every month you’ll receive a curated monthly adventure for kids ages 6-11. Activities center around a theme like art, geography, outer space, food, and more!
You’ll get a Surprise Ride guide in your box with the essentials (2 activities), plus all the extras you need for your adventures!
The theme was Dragons! Each box has a guide to the month’s theme which contains fun facts and ideas, and serves as an intro to the actual activities. My daughter was really pumped about this theme, and we even checked out How To Train Your Dragon 2 from the library this week!
The information card is the guide to the activities – there’s one on the back, too!
Everything in this month’s box!
Build a Fire-Slaying Catapult Activity! The great part of this activity was building your own catapult out of typical household items – plastic spoon, craft sticks, and rubberbands!
And it totally works! The only problem is that nothing was supplied to secure the cup, so we ended up taping it down. No big deal but they could have sent some tape strips for that. We had a lot of fun practicing – and eventually nailing it!
Fun Extra: Dragon ring. This was just a cute little included doo-dad!
Create a Dragon Photo Holder! What a cute activity – plus there’s a lot of clay to make a whole dragon family, or do whatever you’d like!
Daddy is the artistic one and he helped set this up. She worked really hard on it!
And came up with a beautiful dragon!
Daddy’s was a little more advanced 🙂 One of the things I like about this box is that the activities are really geared towards that older kid crowd – this would be too complicated for my 4 year old.
Fun Extra –Â A Dragon’s Life Sticker Book: My kids love these sticker books, and they last forever because there’s multiple sheets. You can use them to decorate pretty much anything – a note or card, or create your own scene.
Book:Â A Poor Excuse for a Dragon: Every box includes a book. Looking at the cover I wasn’t sure about the level (it seemed a bit juvenile).
But it was cute and the leveling was correct for an average 6-8 year old. My daughter enjoyed this story!
A peek at the stickers!
Snack:Â Kettle Brand Potato Chips Backyard Barbeque: Every Surprise Ride includes a fun snack to go along with the theme. Backyard BBQ seemed entirely appropriate, and they sure were yummy!
My daughter is in full-on dragon mode after this one! She was really engaged by the theme and the information about dragons. I thought it was a nice intro to the obsession with dragons over different cultures, along with some nice mechanics, reading, a craft, snacks, a book, and stickers! This one was a hit for us!
