December’s box had the theme Merry & Bright with must-haves for this season’s beauty routine. The card reminds you that you can find the full-sized version at Target.com/beautybox.
The information card gives brief details on each item, and there’s a $3 off $15 coupon too, which you can use on the Mystery Box!
DEAL: Save 5% when you use your Target Red Card.
The December Target Beauty Box was $10 and promised a $38 value.
TRESemme Beauty Full Volume Shampoo ($0.20) & TRESemmé Beauty Full Volume Pre Wash Conditioner ($0.30) I’ve swapped my conditioner and shampoo many times and I didn’t see any difference in this set, which is designed to go conditioner first. So basically you can just do the same thing with what you already have. If your hair’s grody, just do shampoo, condish, and shampoo again.
Modella Black & White Purse Kit ($2.95) The beauty bag has a cute design with a pink lining and a shiny vinyl accent around the zipper.
It’s larger than an ipsy bag, so it holds a nice amount.
Goody® Ouchless Elastic (13¢) & Headwrap ($1) This head wrap and elastic set is cute and useful, but it doesn’t have the silicone no-slip grip of the one I linked to.
The leaf print is nice and I like the lime & fuchsia combo. I think this headwrap design is perfect for washing your face.
La Roche Posay Anthelios 50 Tinted Mineral Ultra Light Sunscreen Fluid ($1.50) I did think this was a bit odd for a midwinter box! Yes we need sun protection in winter but 50 SPF is quite a bit for December (I hope you’re going on a great vacation if you need this)! Nevertheless I am always happy for a mineral sunscreen that’s fragrance-free and paraben-free. This applied well with a slight tint.
Some subscribers received Vichy One-Step Cleanser instead of this product.
This stack of round white containers pleased me.
NIVEA Soft Moisturizing Crème ($0.60) Well, this cream smells like Nivea! A little soapy and surprisingly thin for a cream. It uses parabens so if you’re not interested in those, skip this cream.
Derma E Firming DMAE Moisturizer ($3.10) This cream surprised me! I didn’t expect the color of it or the scent, which is hard to pinpoint – maybe the ALA, which provides firming for your skin. I liked this one and will use it up!
Almay Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover Pads ($0.94) These gentle oil-free eye makeup remover pads worked pretty well and easily removed my makeup.
COVERGIRL Outlast Lip Color ($7.99) When this box was originally for sale there was a specified shade: Ever Red-dy. I received this shimmery pink shade – Fuchsia Forever. I like this color, but a tip – you can take the item back to the store before opening it if you want to swap it for something else at most Target stores.
I can’t believe that this product still exists, but it still works – it’s a classic!
You apply the lip stain and let it set for 60 seconds. This really stays and the balm can be reapplied all day to provide shine and moisture.
Here it is after trying to remove it. I had to really scrub my arm.
I came up with about $18.71 value for this box, which wasn’t really impressive. Target skipped a value estimate this month, which was a good idea, but I think they can improve the variety and value in their boxes or drop the price by a few dollars. That being said I loved a few of the items in this box and would purchase them again!
This box is no longer available. However, the Target Beauty Mystery Box and the 12 days of Beauty Target Beauty Advent Calendar are both available at Target.
