It’s Lootcrate time! I’m a total geek and this is quickly becoming a favorite subscription for me! Lootcrate is a monthly box of stuffs for geeks and gamers. It costs $13.37 per month, and if you don’t know what that is and love this box, then you have some learnin’ to do. Add $6 shipping.
This month’s Lootcrate theme was Varsity. Freddie Wong special guested as curator and created a Video Game High School themed box to celebrate the release of season 2.
July Lootcrate Review – Varsity
The Lootcrate information card has all the information on the contents and then details about that month’s box and Lootcrate news. I like the descriptions – short & sweet but they get me interested in the items.
Star Wars Earbuds. We got Yoda, but there were also Darth Vader, Darth Maul (hilarious typo on information card – “Darth Mall”), and C3P0. $10.
Marvel Pez Dispenser. My kids’ first Pez. They were fascinated! We got Wolverine! Wonder if someone makes natural candy that will fit in Pez? $2.
Video Game High School Season 1 DVD. VGHS is a web series. It’s available online but this is the director’s cut. $10.
Sonic the Hedgehog Air Freshener – This reminded me of men’s soap. It was an appropriate scent! Fresh and fast like Sonic! Perfect for your VGHS locker!
VGHS Button Set – My children are proudly wearing these buttons.
VGHS Stromtrooper Vinyl Sticker from Danger Brain, Rocket Jump Vinyl Sticker – I never have a chance at using the stickers. The kids steal them immediately and place them on their clothes. I convinced them to place them on their suitcase for safe keeping.
VGHS Emergency Wireless Keyboard – This cracked me up. Sometimes low tech is best.
My kids and husband have dibs on most of this box, but I’m putting my foot down on the Yoda earbuds – those are mine! Did you get the July Lootcrate? What did you think? I definitely enjoy this box – it takes me back to my roots and brings a whole lot of fun into the house!

I started watching a bit and saw my son would love it, but he’s 7. I did a search, and apparently, there’s a parent rating guide at imdb.com! Who knew? Anyway, based on that, I think I’m OK with the kids seeing it. They are serious Minecraft addicts, so this is right up their alley.
Here’s the link I found: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2170584/parentalguide
I also chose the earbuds to keep! I got Darth Maul. I tried to keep the Captain America Pez too, but the kids outvoted me. Do you know if the show is safe for youngsters to watch? There’s no age rating listed
I think so. Might want to scan through it first! If you get to it before me, let me know!
