Not every beauty box promises a reset, but the May 2025 Allure Beauty Box seems to aim for exactly that — with a mix of makeup, skincare, and haircare meant to help you relax and recharge. The curation leans toward feel-good products, but not every item delivers on the promise. While there are a few standouts, others feel more like filler than essentials.Let’s dive into the items you’ll find in this box.

Check out the full spoilers for the May 2025 Allure Beauty Box here, in case you want to know all of the possible variations.

The FENTY BEAUTY Fenty Cheeks Suede Powder Blush in Petal Poppin’ ($28) offers a soft, natural-looking flush in a warm pink tone that’s flattering on many skin tones. The formula is finely milled and blends well, but it’s not the most pigmented blush on first swipe — you’ll likely need to build it up for noticeable color. On the plus side, that makes it beginner-friendly and ideal for low-effort, minimal-makeup days. It’s a nice option if you’re aiming for an easy, everyday blush that adds a gentle pop without stealing the show—but it may fall short for those who prefer bolder payoff or longer wear.

The HAUS LABS By Lady Gaga PHD Hybrid Lip Glaze In Guava ($26) is a nice touch if you like a glossy, balmy finish. It’s lightweight and has a subtle tint, but the staying power is nothing impressive. The guava scent is pleasant, though it may not be for everyone. It’s a decent daytime product, but not something that feels must-have.

Skincare fans may appreciate the ELEMIS Peptide4 Plumping Pillow Facial ($29), which works as a light overnight hydration mask. While the texture is luxurious, the results aren’t dramatic unless your skin is already dry or dehydrated. For many, it might feel more like a nice-to-have than a transformative treatment. It’s good — but not groundbreaking.

COLOR WOW Raise The Root Thicken + Lift Spray ($12) adds visible lift, especially to fine hair, but it’s also a bit drying depending on your hair type. The texture feels lightweight, which is a plus, though results vary depending on how you style it. Those with already voluminous hair may not see much benefit. It’s a product that works — but only if you have the right hair type for it.

The ACEOLOGY Passionfruit Refining Lip Scrub ($29) smells great and exfoliates well, but it doesn’t stand out in a crowded field of lip scrubs. If you already use one, this won’t necessarily upgrade your routine. Still, it’s a pleasant step for a night in. Think of it as a fun extra, not a hero product.

The BABOR Collagen Firming Ampoule ($50 for full size 14ml) feels luxurious with its sleek, single-use glass vial packaging, but the experience can be a bit impractical. While the formula claims to firm and smooth the skin, one ampoule isn’t really enough to assess long-term results — especially for something as gradual as collagen support. The serum itself absorbs quickly and leaves the skin feeling soft and slightly more hydrated, but the immediate firming effect is subtle at best. It’s a nice treat for a self-care night, but likely won’t replace your go-to serums or make a major difference after one use.

Finally, the EVA NYC H2-Whoa! Hydrating Shampoo ($0.50) & Conditioner ($0.50) samples do the job but aren’t particularly memorable. The hydration is mild and might not be enough for very dry or textured hair. The sample sizes are small — even by sample standards. It’s a decent trial but not a strong closer for the box.

This month’s Allure Beauty Box walks the line between self-care and standard fare. There are moments of luxury, particularly with brands like FENTY and ELEMIS, but not every product lives up to the relaxing, rejuvenating promise. If you’re new to beauty boxes, it may feel like a fun discovery; if you’re a regular subscriber, it might feel repetitive or underwhelming. Is it worth the price? That depends on what you’re looking for — a spa-at-home experience, or just a mix of “pretty good” products?

Allure Beauty Box is a monthly beauty subscription service that sends 6 or more beauty products (at least 3 of those will be full-sized) with a retail value of at least $100+ and is curated by the editors of Allure Magazine, who choose and test the products themselves. Allure Beauty Box is $25 a month or sign-up for a year, and the price is closer to $21 a month. There are sometimes sponsored products in the box, and you’ll be eligible for special discounts on Allure editors’ favorite luxury products and limited-edition boxes. Allure’s beauty subscription box is included in our list of the best skincare subscription boxes!

If you are a new subscriber, then your products may be slightly different, but continuing subscribers should not receive the same product twice.
