Loot Anime is a monthly subscription box from Loot Crate, just for Anime and Manga fans! Every month you’ll get $60 worth of figures, collectibles, manga, apparel, accessories and more.
Note from Brandy: As you might be able to tell, our box was water damaged, which was a little sad, but all the items besides the fold-out poster/information card survived! You may also be able to tell that I took the photos, but I am super excited to welcome our new Anime reviewer Sara!
The box itself had a great design!
Everything in the December 2015 ENCHANT crate!
The poster for the Enchant box was illustrated by Barachan, an illustrator based in Atlanta. Her artwork is original character art and not based on an existing series.
The back of the poster is the information card.
Exclusive Fairy Tail Replica Scarf from Bioworld
The first item of mention from this box is the very cool and stylish scarf modeled after the one worn by one of the main protagonists of the popular anime and manga, Fairy Tail. Written by Hiro Mashima, the magical world of Fairy Tail takes its fans on a fantastical ride with the adventures of a group of mages who take on contracts and personal foes alike in their quest to support and protect their guild, town, and each other.
A main character, Natsu Dragoneel, sports his iconic scarf wherever he goes as it reminds him of the missing dragon that took him in and raised him as a child. From his dragon foster parent, Natsu learns a special type of magic that makes him almost dragon-like and the scarf, which resembles dragon scales, completes the image. Fairy Tale is published in the weekly Shonen Jump releases, is purchasable in print volumes, and can be seen as an anime in the U.S. on Funimation.
Exclusive Madoka Magica Print by Barachan
The beautiful pastels of the exclusive art print feature the main character of Madoka Magica, Madoka Kaname. This popular work of dark fantasy portrays a school student who is offered a wish by a cat-like creature in exchange for magical powers and the new responsibility of fighting witches. The elaborate and engaging storyline with its surprising ending has made this story a favorite among many. Madoka Magica is available for viewing on Hulu and Crunchyroll and printed volumes are available for purchase on Amazon.
Exclusive Rokka T-Shirt: Braves of the Six Flowers from Ripple Junction
The next item, a colorful t-shirt, sports the names and faces of the characters from Rokka: Braves of the Six Flowers. This story was originally written as a light novel series by Ishio Yamagata and has since had a manga adaptation, available in the Super Dash & Go! magazine, and also an anime version which can be viewed on the Crunchyroll website. When the Demon God threatens humanity again, the Goddess of Fate chooses six people to be the Braves of the Six Flowers to defeat him. The confusion starts however, when the group gathers and discovers that instead of six, there are seven, and suspicions about an imposter abound.
This box was originally supposed to include a No Game No Life item, but there was a licensing issue that prevented its inclusion. The Rokka shirt was included instead. Read the full details on the delay here.
Kingdom Hearts Keyblade Keyring – Riku’s Keyblade
A collaboration between video game maker, Square Enix and Disney Interactive Studies produced the popular and moving subject of our next item review: Kingdom Hearts. A line of action role-playing video games, Kingdom Hearts comprises many crossovers from the worlds and characters of both Disney and Square Enix origin to create a fun and captivating experience. The fun begins in the first game where three friends, Sora, Riku, and Kairi are separated from each other and their own world after it is attacked and must struggle through other worlds in order to defeat the enemies that threaten to take control of everything for their own evil purposes. In their battles against these enemies called the ‘Heartless’, unique weapons known as Keyblades are some of the only means of fighting back.
Keyblades look like a cross between a sword and a key and will only allow themselves to be wielded by someone with a strong heart. This box contains Riku’s unique Keyblade named “Way to the Dawn” and it is a strong representation of the character growth that occurs in Riku. Kingdom Hearts is a popular line of games for a reason and they can be enjoyed on many gaming platforms including, Playstation 2, 3, and 4, Xbox One and others.
It should be noted that the packaging contains a misprint and incorrectly lists the name of Riku’s Keyblade as being “Wait the Dawn”. The correct name of the iconic sword is actually: “Way to the Dawn.
Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Enamel Pin from Ripple Junction
Is it Wrong to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon is a humorous action fantasy about a young man who is trying to prove himself and in the process, ends up gaining the admiration of many of the female characters. Bell Cranel lives in a country where its citizens join groups called Familia. Each group is under a resident deity and those in the Familia known as Adventurers, have the task of going to one of the most notable places in the storyline: the Dungeon. Here, monsters of various strengths are fought in order to obtain crystal shards which are then used to craft items or to exchange for currency. The strength or level of those fighting can also increase, thus allowing one to grow stronger like in a role playing video game.
Is it Wrong to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon was also a light novel series (written by Fujino Omori) before its manga and anime adaptations. Printed copies of both the written story and manga are available for sale on Amazon and the anime may be enjoyed on Hulu and Crunchyroll websites.
