Even the padding in the box is exquisite! It has a foam insert that cradles everything inside, and it even has a velvety surface.

It all has a very high-end feel to it, and unboxing everything from the custom case makes you feel a bit like a secret agent selecting your gear.

Robb Vices is giving away a complimentary gift to those who will sign up for a 3+ month subscription using their code.

They’ll get a pair of white gold plated & carbon fiber Dirocco sunglasses! The code is SUNSHINE!

The story of the premium products is told through a giant, novella-sized booklet with multi-page featurettes on each selection. This month’s box features items celebrating sunshine.

A short note from Daniel Curtis, Founder of Robb Vices. The styling of the booklet is very sleek and elegant. There is always quite a bit of content, and it is written like a series of magazine articles rather than purely product descriptions, so it makes for interesting reading.

Everything in my August 2017 Robb Vices box!

Dirocco Sunglasses  ($390): These are designer sunglasses that make a bold fashion statement. Stylish and lightweight, they are great with any outfit and occasion.

The glasses come in a hard case and a protective pouch to protect it from scratches while not in use. This is the high-value item in the box, as Diroccos usually run at close to $400 a pair! They seem really fragile, but I haven’t had any issues with them, and it says they’re carbon fiber.

The book an article about Sebastian Ramirez, Dirocco’s founder,  as well as good taste and sensible fashion.

Ramirez developed the distinct Dirocco look by using carbon fiber in his designs. Originally intended for use as fuel tank casing for WWII bombers, the material is both light and incredibly durable – perfect attributes for glasses.

This particular pair of Diroccos is made of white gold plated frame and carbon fiber accents.

It has a classic aviator shape with a sleek and modern feel lent by the touches of carbon fiber. A must-have for every wardrobe.

The sleek frame and light lens makes it super lightweight and very comfortable to wear. The carbon shielding on the side adds some peripheral protection. It blocks a little bit of peripheral vision, but not much more than ordinary thick frames.

The accompanying hard case is spacious enough for the glasses to fit just right, keeping them safe.

Beekman 1802 Hello, Sunshine Natural Mineral Sunscreen ($24.95)  This broad spectrum sunscreen helps protect your skin from the harmful effects of the sun, plus it has soothing aloe. It also has goat’s milk, because, after all, it is from the Beekman boys!

This sunscreen is made of high quality natural ingredients. It uses good old non-nano zinc oxide, so there are no chemicals to sting or offer questionable protection. It is very light on the skin but provides great (30 spf) protection from the sun. It must be applied 15 minutes prior to sun exposure and must be reapplied every 80 minutes when swimming or sweating.

The sunscreen comes in a bottle of 2.4 fl oz., a good travel size and big enough to provide many applications, particularly if you are mostly protecting your face and neck.

The Beckman company, its background and advocacy is featured in the booklet. Located in Upstate New York, the company makes everything from skincare to jams and goat’s milk caramels. They pride themselves on incorporating small farm ingredients in their products.

The Hello Sunshine sunscreen pages describe the philosophy behind its composition – they don’t use typical chemicals in their sunscreen, and the goat’s milk and aloe base relies on centuries of successful use as skincare treatments, with the former having a similar ph and protein structure to skin.

Lillie’s Q South Carolina Mustard Gold ($18) Just as cities in the Northern U.S. have their distinctive sandwiches and pizzas, cities in the South set themselves apart through their distinctive take on BBQ. Every locale has its own favorite cut of meat, preparation and sauce. In South Carolina, that often means whole hog BBQ with a mustard-based sauce. Lillie’s Q’s version nails it with a tangy mustard and vinegar based sauce that is perfect for pork, chicken, or sausages.

Lillie’s Q Ivory BBQ Sauce Northern Alabama Style ($17) This peppery mayo and vinegar sauce was my first introduction to Lillie’s Q. It is delicious on any meat, and it even doubles as a handy sauce for coleslaw. I love it as a wing sauce alternative to ranch or blue cheese, or as a dip for fries. A sweet and tangy sauce that goes with just about anything you can think of. A dash of Cajun spice gives it a taste quite like no other. We were so pumped to get this sauce!

The booklet talks about Lillie’s Q and founder Charlie McKenna, a competitive pitmaster and one of the world’s leading authorities in the BBQ-related matters. His reverence for local BBQ traditions inspired him to create a line of sauces that celebrate the distinct, sometimes county-by-county, sauce preferences and traditions found throughout the BBQ Belt. The sauces are incredibly flavorful, but they aren’t corn-syrupy sweet like store versions, so they make excellent dips, dressings, and versatile accompaniments to a wealth of dishes.

Kozlik’s Canadian Mustard Horseradish Mustard ($5.67) Spicy mustard made from hot white horseradish. It’s the perfect addition to roast beef, vegetables, chicken, and anything else you fancy. The mustard comes in a hefty 8oz jar. That’s a lot of mustard for all your dressing needs.

Hailing from the world’s best in the mustard industry, Kozlik’s mustard is the product of 60 years of mustard-making experience. The flavor is powerful and hits the sinuses with a marked intensity.

Kozlik’s Canadian Mustard is a family-owned business who creates their mustard in small batches, thus ensuring that they are made of only the freshest ingredients for optimal flavor and quality.

The Horseradish Mustard is great for mixing with sauces, dishes and even as a dip by itself. It has a thick consistency, and a little dab is enough to deliver big flavor.

The Robb Vices box is certainly one of the best subscription values you can get, particularly if you like luxury. This box came in at a whopping $455 value, which is absolutely amazing! The contents weren’t as impressive at first sight as some previous boxes, as there weren’t any electronics or big bottles of booze, but the value was the highest I’ve seen due to the designer aviators.  I love the curation – everything fits in the theme and is accompanied by a hefty and well-written booklet that heightens the experience and lends context to the selections. Sometimes it takes awhile to enjoy my new items because the book is so engrossing that I find myself reading the whole thing. The curation is ultra high-end and surprisingly affordable, given the value received. Robb Vices is the box I most look forward to seeing arrive, because the quality and value is insane.
