Put A Bow On It showed up in the subscription box scene kind of like a ninja — nobody knew it even existed until a couple months ago, and suddenly everyone was talking about it. With other Canadian lifestyle boxes already well-known, that this one gained such a following in a short time is really exciting! I love lifestyle boxes (and am envious of all the American options) and I’m pleased to be able to review their May box! This box only ships to Canada at this time, and shipping is free.

The packaging is so pretty! The satin bow and gold wrapping paper are very luxe. (If you look closely, you can see my reflection in the paper. Oops.)

The inner box is printed as well!

IMG_2781

Even the ribbon is printed with the box’s name and they included a handwritten envelope containing the information card!

May’s theme is Mother’s Day!

The flip side of the card features the items included.

Everything inside the box was protected by paper squiggles.

Grey Clutch: This is made of a faux suede finish. It actually feels more like a microsuede? It’s soft but it collects dust VERY easily — you can see debris from the paper squiggles stuck, and that was after I spent a few minutes trying to get most of it off. It’s very big, too! It’s 8×12″ so it’s very roomy. My Kindle fits in it easily as well as my phone.

What My Mother Gave Me ($19.95) This is a collection of essays that came out back in 2013. This isn’t my sort of book, but I did flip through it. What struck me is that this isn’t feel-good chicken soup for the soul drivel — a few of the essays I read were written by daughters who to this day hate their mothers, are estranged from them, and resent them. Not exactly the warm fuzzies you’d expect, and that just makes it more authentic and real.

Notebook and Pen: A simple lined notebook and pen for jotting down notes. I go through notebooks quickly because I write my to-do/chore lists in them, so this is great.

IMG_2787

Voluspa Votive: I love Voluspa candles! I have had a few of them and I love them. This one is a small votive and doesn’t have the scent printed anywhere, but it’s a nice clean, slightly masculine scent. It might be Suede Blanc. I love the holder itself, and will reuse it with a tea light once the votive is gone.

Floral Explosion Set: This set includes guest sized hand lotions and a soap. These would be awesome for traveling or if you had guests staying at your house. They smell like lavender, which I hate and my mom loves, so this is destiny.

Marc Jacobs Daisy Mini: I love minis because they’re great for travel and look adorable on my vanity with all my other perfumes. Subscribers were sent different minis from the MJ fragrance line, but I like Daisy so I’m happy to get this one!

May’s box was Mother’s Day themed, but I found some things to keep for myself to enjoy as well! I like the perfume and the candle, and the clutch is really nicely made as well. I’m thrilled to see another lifestyle/gift box exclusive to Canada — it makes my box envy slightly more manageable!
