Nerd Block April 2016 box

Nerd Block is a monthly mystery geek & gamer subscription box. Every month includes a new shirt and Nerd Block boxes are typically filled with fun toys and figurines and other geek accessories. It really is a box for everyone who enjoys nerdy and pop culture things.

Nerd Block April 2016 review

And everything in this month’s box!

My husband flipped his lid when he saw the box. I actually forgot that he’s totally crazy about Weird Al. His reactions were totally priceless. The kids and I are wrapping this entire box back up for his birthday gift!

Dear Me, what are those things coming out of her nose?

Nerd Block April 2016 (4)Family Guy Koozie: Tom uttered multiple Stewie quotes upon seeing this. It’s perfect for keeping a drink cold and laughing!

Archer Ice Cube Tray ($11.99) A fun ice cube tray for fans of a fun show!

Nerd Block April 2016 (7)

Weird Al: The Book By Nathan Rabin with Al Yankovic: This is an exclusive paperback version of the Hardcover ($20.45). My husband beamed with delight flipping through this book, and said that the photos were amazing, and he half-expected to see one of Weird Al with Nelson Mandela (after all, everyone loves Weird Al).

Tom spent way too much time on this page. Please do not give my husband any ideas. This is the apex of nerdiness.

Nerd Block April 2016 (9)

The Simpsons 25th Anniversary Weird Al Action Figure ($30) This is an exclusive to Nerd Block (the colors on the shirt are reversed). Tom’s response? OMG I CAN’T WAIT TO OPEN IT. NO I CAN’T OPEN IT THIS IS OUR RETIREMENT. While I doubt that keeping a Weird Al Simpsons figure mint in box is the path to a comfortable retirement, he was clearly excited by it.

The back of the box explains that The Simpsons episode “That ’90s Show” included a parody of parody singer Weird Al singing a parody of the parody song made popular by Homer’s parody band who parodied a famous grunge song of the 90’s, which was the object of the entire episode’s parody.

Weird Al Tacky T-Shirt: My husband pulled this out and said – I do like that video a LOT. Then he proceeded to sing half the song, muttering to himself, “he [Weird Al] is so… HE’S A GENIUS.” I can promise you he’ll put this shirt in heavy rotation.

This box was perfectly aimed at the 35-40 year old male crowd who grew up idolizing Weird Al in the 80s. Nerd Block really went full geek with this box and Weird Al fans weren’t disappointed (if you’re not a Weird Al fan, you may not have been a fan of this box!).

Next month’s box is a Classic theme, so more throwback fun! Check out the rest of the spoilers for May here.
