Kicking off this beauty adventure is the MUDMASKY Vitamin-Infused Scalp Serum ($65). Packed with botanical plants and vitamin-rich oils, this serum goes beyond the basics to restore balance and repair the damage caused by the changing seasons. To give it a go, I applied a teaspoon of the serum and indulged in a scalp massage—a treat for both my hair and my senses. The serum’s neutral fragrance and lightweight texture made the experience pleasant, leaving my scalp feeling refreshed and nourished.
Next up in the beauty lineup is the Belif Moisturizing Bomb Toner ($0.96). What caught my eye is its milky texture, moisturizing the skin without any heavy, greasy feeling. This water-based toner is enriched with ceramide and nutrient-filled minerals, promising to help us achieve tighter, smoother, and supple skin. It’s always exciting to explore new toners, and this one seems to bring a refreshing approach to the quest for hydrated and happy skin.
Infused with pure quinoa oil, the Nativa Spa Quinoa Firming Body Lotion ($1.88) is designed to do more than just hydrate—it aims to firm and nourish the skin. The warm, floral scent, perfectly balanced with a touch of sweetness, adds an aromatic layer to this skincare experience. The formulation is also rich in omegas 3, 6, and 9, aiming to fortify the skin barrier and enhance overall skin texture. Although I have yet to see actual results, I like that it feels light on the skin and doesn’t leave any greasy residue behind.
The Cetaphil Healthy Renew Night Cream ($2.82) is all about tackling those fine lines and wrinkles, giving your skin a little extra love while you catch some Zs. A retinol alternative, the formula boasts purified peptides, along with vitamins B3 and B5, creating a potent yet gentle concoction. The cream’s texture is smooth and easy to apply, sinking into the skin without any greasy residue. Overall, it’s a straightforward night cream that does its job without any fancy frills.
If you’ve been battling with dry, cracked cuticles or pesky hangnails, Paume All-In-One Cuticle and Nail Cream ($20) might just be your new best friend. Not to mention, if your nails tend to be on the brittle side, this cream is here to help. The cream boasts a nourishing blend of emollients and actives, ensuring that your nail beds and cuticles stay hydrated, soft, and bacteria-free. I’ve found that it not only addresses existing issues but also serves as a preventive measure, maintaining the health of my nails and cuticles even on those days when I forget to pamper them. A small addition to my routine that makes a significant difference!
Medik8 Crystal Retinal 3 ($54) contains retinaldehyde, which they say is faster-acting than regular retinol. The idea behind this serum is to decongest and clarify the appearance of the skin. Besides the fancy retinaldehyde, it also boasts hyaluronic acid and vitamin E, which sounds like a good combo for some extra skin hydration. It’s recommended to use the Medik8 serum in the evening after cleansing—just apply two pumps over your face and neck, and you’re good to go. Comparing it to the Cetaphil night cream which I also received in the box, the Medik8 serum seems to bring an extra punch with its focus on quicker results and added ingredients.
NatureLab Tokyo Repair Leave-In Treatment ($2.90) promises to make your hair dry faster—a real perk, especially for someone like me who’s always in a hurry. It’s loaded with plant-rich oils and proteins, aiming to provide a shield against UV and free-radical damage, while keeping your strands soft and silky. To use, you’re supposed to work the foam into damp hair, then blow dry and style as usual. The scent is an interesting touch—it’s inspired by Japanese bamboo forests with a hint of green tea and cypress.
This month’s Allure Beauty Box, ranging from hair treatments to skincare essentials, promises a refreshed appearance in the face of changing seasons. The lineup boasts both hits and misses—the standout being products that target hydration, repair, and protection, ideal for combating the harsh effects of colder weather. However, a minor drawback lies in the redundancy of certain benefits across a couple of items. Nonetheless, the overall curation succeeds in offering a well-rounded collection that caters to various aspects of self-care, making it a noteworthy addition to my beauty arsenal this season.
