The September 2023 Vellabox is here and they sent one of three different candle scents that align with the scent preferences that are chosen at checkout. I received the fragrance for those who like their candles to smell woodsy. I also received a bonus item that smells wonderful! Each month the candle comes in a drawstring bag. The prints and colors change each time. They can be reused to hold jewelry, gifts, and so on.
Bonfire by Scent & Sprout (Similar candles are $24 for 9 ounces) I didn’t see this fragrance at the Scent & Sprout website but luckily Vellabox has them on hand! I am always excited when fall-scented candles start arriving, and this one was a huge hit with me! Scent notes include marshmallow, sugar, patchouli, smoke, oak, saffron, clove, and amber, all things I want in a candle scent. This candle is a touch sweet, smoky, warm, comforting, and everything I love about a candle. It’s made with soy wax and should burn for around 80 hours. I could detect this while it was burning and the hot throw was good.
Vellabox Air Freshener in Gloomy ($6) I am not one for hanging air fresheners in my car so instead I placed it in my living room (make sure not to let it touch anything or the oil will leak out and onto, say, a notepad you have on your desk, oops!). This scent has notes of mahogany, palo santo, and woods and reminds me of a cozy cologne, and leans towards a masculine fragrance overall. There’s a candle in this scent available too!
I am so happy that fall is about to make an appearance in my area soon and I know exactly which candle I’m going to burn, Bonfire by Scent & Sprout! Sure, it smelled wonderful even on a 100 degree day but I bet it will smell even better (at least to my mind) when the temps are 30-40 degrees lower. This candle grabbed me from the moment I removed the lid, but the scent carried while burning too, enough that I could detect it when I entered the room, but not so much that I felt overwhelmed or ill. I also liked the air freshener, it was a little on the manly side but again, it was perfect for fall.
