F.A.R.A.H. Essential Duo Brush Set ($24 listed value) This duo of brushes for the face have holographic silver handles! C30 is the brush with the smaller head, and it’s meant to be used with blush and contour. C350 is the brush with the larger head and it says it can be used to apply blush and powder. The powder brush is rather soft and fluffy while the contour brush is a little denser but not by much. I think it could also be used to apply highlighter.

Clarity RX Glimmer of Hope Facial Oil ($56) I like face oils and this one has a base of coconut oil plus others and no essential oils or fragrance (thank you). It’s meant for dry or mature skin and is supposed to provide a natural glow, and indeed it did make my face look shiny (and no it doesn’t have glitter). It felt nice going on, a dry oil I guess you can say. I sat down to let it soak in and well, it didn’t really soak in very well. I went ahead and rubbed it in for a little longer and that was better but I think I probably just transferred extra product to my hands, I almost felt the need to wipe it off before applying sunscreen and makeup. I’ll probably get more use out of it when the weather cools down again but I liked that it had only a hint of natural rose scent.

JLo Beauty That Hit Single Gel Cream Cleanser ($39) What a huge tube of cleanser! I applied it to damp skin and it foamed up really well. It’s supposed to remove dirt and makeup and provide antioxidant protection. I’m not a fan of the fragrance, which doesn’t really belong in skincare for the face and it smells like an old fashioned floral perfume.

IL Makiage Color Boss Squad Eyeshadow Palette ($48) I am happy to have received this pretty little compact filled with warm shades for my eyes. The texture of Lush Life (top left) is almost creamy and made for a great base over my lid. I swiped Carry On under my brows and then applied just a little bit of Back Off to above the crease. I used a light hand to pick up No BS with a crease brush and swiped it on and then finished with brown liner and was very pleased with the result and the performance.

Half Caked Double Dipper Color Duo ($18) This duo confused me a bit because the blush is pure, cool pink and the highlighter is warm, golden copper and I’m not sure I would wear them at the same time. The blush is what you might expect, powdery due to having talc, and a little goes a long way but it is upbeat and pretty for summer. I liked the highlighter, it was easy to apply and blend.

The four IL Makiage eye shadow colors are swatched on top, the Half Caked blush and highlighter are at the bottom.

Well, this month’s curation was fine even though it’s not very exciting. I really liked the IL Makiage shadow quad, it went on easily with no fall out and looked good once on. I also liked the Clarity oil, even if it did leave behind a bit of a slick, but then it’s already 100+ degrees here in humid Austin, Texas so I think I’m just going to set it aside for later in the year. I’m not a fan of the JLO cleanser but then I’m not thrilled to have perfume in my face products. The blush and highlighter combo were fine, even though the colors don’t seem to be from the same family (cool blush with warm highlighter). The brushes were good and I love to collect them. The value for my box combo was around $185!
