The Night She Disappeared by Lisa Jewell ($16.76)

From the number one New York Times best-selling author of Then She Was Gone comes another riveting work of psychological suspense about a beautiful young couple’s disappearance on a gorgeous summer night, and the mother who will never give up trying to find them….

On a beautiful summer night in a charming English suburb, a young woman and her boyfriend disappear after partying at the massive country estate of a new college friend.

One year later, a writer moves into a cottage on the edge of the woods that border the same estate. Known locally as the Dark Place, the dense forest is the writer’s favorite area for long walks and it’s on one such walk that she stumbles upon a mysterious note that simply reads, “Dig here.”

Could this be a clue towards what has happened to the missing young couple? And what exactly is buried in this haunted ground?

With her signature “rich, dark, and intricately twisted” (Ruth Ware, New York Times bestselling author) prose, Lisa Jewell has crafted a dazzling work of suspense that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the final chapter.

This month’s book pick is a mystery thriller! The first gift can be opened upon reaching page 19.

Reading Journal. It’s a reading journal! This is a great gift for bookworms, so we can keep track the books we have read and write notes about them.

Just like in the story, a piece of Student Contact info can be found glued to the inside cover of the journal!

There’s a quote printed on one of the pages and it’s from Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte:

I would always rather be happy than dignified.

I like how organized this journal is. There’s a special section for my own TBR or to be read list!

Another page is for my DNF list or the books I did not finish. Of course, there’s also a section for my book favorites, including a small space where I can specify why I loved the book!

Longer thoughts about a certain book can be added on the book review pages. There’s also space where I can rate it (with 1 star being the lowest and 5 stars being the highest) and write down my favorite quote!

The next gift can be opened upon reaching page 34!

Inflatable Flamingo. The packaging for the inflatable flamingo is a reusable drawstring pouch!

They saw the exact same pink flamingo inflatable (only, that was a full-sized inflatable) in a pool in the book so having this is really cool! What I like about it though is that I can really use it in real life and it can even hold my drink while swimming.

Another gift can be opened upon reaching page 79.

Small Shovel. The mini shovel came with a note that says “Dig Me”, exactly how it was described in the book! The inside of the container box even looks like it contains dirt. They were really creative with this inclusion, and I appreciate it!

Lastly, the final item can be opened upon reaching 294.

Book. The last gift is a book! It resembles the book that Sophie saw inside Lexie’s suitcase.

The words “Dig Here” are printed at the back!

I removed the cover and found out that it’s a real book, Hidden by Fern Michaels. This is really great because after finishing this month’s book pick, I have another mystery novel to read!

I really enjoyed reading this month’s book! The writing was brilliant and I loved how it started slow but turned fast-paced as things started to unfold. I also had a great time unwrapping each gift and I’m really happy with every single one! They were all in line with what’s going on in the book so it made reading more enjoyable. Getting a second book in box was also a nice surprise. Once Upon A Book Club really takes reading books into a whole new different level! Whether you’re looking for your next best read or you want a unique reading experience, this subscription is for you!
