Simply Earth’s essential oil subscription made the list in our 2021 readers’ choice best green & eco-friendly subscription list!

The bottles were on one side, the extra supplies on the other, and the cards were placed on top (but I removed them for the photo!).

Everything in my box! Subscribers also receive free access to the online Essential Oil Hero Course to learn even more about how to use the products. Plus, Simply Earth will be launching a Toxin-Free Skin Care Formulation Course soon, so if you are especially into natural beauty products, go to their website and enter your email for more info!

I received 6 recipe cards to use with my new oils. The front of each card has instructions, while the back of four of the cards had some info about Simply Earth (the other two had continuations of recipes).

There was info on Katie, who develops the recipes and stars in the helpful YouTube video directions that can be found on the Simply Earth website. The bottom card listed and described each essential oil in this month’s box as well as the extras sent with this shipment.

Simply Earth donates to organizations that help people escape human trafficking. This month they are going to Freedom Cry. The bottom card tells us what oils we can expect in our next shipment and even states what extra items we will need to complete upcoming recipes.

There was a sheet of pre-scored stickers to put on the bottles and on the finished recipes.

Lava Rock Shower Diffuser ($5.99) One of our recipes for this month is to make a shower diffuser so Simply Earth included a porous lava rock and something to string it on.

Simply Earth Citric Acid ($2.99) Citric acid helps get bath bombs and shower steamers going since it bubbles when it comes in contact with water.

Simply Earth Purple Brazilian Clay I really don’t want to sit in a tub of artificial dyes but here we have some natural clay to provide some color to some of the recipes.

Here are the four oils for the month! There are three singles plus a blend.

Simply Earth Lavender 40/42 Essential Oil ($11.99) I have plenty of lavender oils but this one is labeled 40/42, and that’s because it is specially blended to have a certain percentage of the oils that give it its scent.

The back of each bottle contains the ingredients and country of origin, and some of them list the scent notes and uses. Here we see that 40/42 stands for the amounts of linalool and linalyl acetate. Lavender is known to be relaxing. If you are looking for some additional recipes, they can be found on the Simply Earth website, and Pinterest is also a good source of ideas.

The special dropper design helps the oils come out slowly so you don’t accidentally put in too much at once.

Simply Earth Peace & Quiet Essential Oil ($11.99) Peace & Quiet is our only blend and while I thought it might have lavender in the mix, it doesn’t, it’s a burst of warm citrus!

Sweet orange, frankincense, cedarwood, and lime are the four oils in this bottle.

Simply Earth Supreme Peppermint Essential Oil ($12.99) Peppermint is probably my all-time favorite essential oil, I love peppermint everything!

I’m sure you know what this smells like and it makes me feel a few degrees cooler just by inhaling its scent.

Simply Earth Sage Essential Oil ($15.99) I am happy to add this herb to my collection, sage has such an interesting scent.

This is Spanish sage and it smells a lot like menthol to me.

Below are some of the recipes I made with this month’s box items and ingredients from my home pantry. I didn’t make the bath salts because I didn’t have any Epsom salts, and I didn’t make the toilet bombs because it called for castile soap or dish soap and the only soap I have is apple-scented Dawn and I thought that might make a weird scent combo.

The diffuser blend is always so easy, just drop in the oils, add water, and turn on the diffuser. This combination was amazing, and I will use this recipe over and over again! In fact, the Big Bonus Box comes with some dropper bottles so that you can mix up a big batch and then you only have one bottle to pull out when you want the scent, instead of four.

Here is another easy one. I put the cord on the lava rock and dropped some peppermint oil on it and then hanged it from a hook in my shower. When water hits it it helps the scent diffuse. I know the card said to use lavender, but I take a shower in the morning and prefer something uplifting. I forgot about it and later on when I walked into my bathroom it smelled amazing, so I may just keep the oil in my medicine cabinet so I can refresh the stone every few days.

The roll-on used a couple of items from my Big Bonus Box, like a rollerball bottle and fractionated coconut oil.

I poured in the essential oils and gave them a swirl before topping with the carrier oil and then rollerball. I had to use a towel to push the rollerball into place. Then I wrapped the included label around the bottle. It’s another winning scent, but then did I mention that I love peppermint?

Finally I made the bath “scoops”, which are supposed to look like little scoops of ice cream. I don’t have a traditional scooper so I used heart-shaped mini molds and that turned out to be better for my needs, because I prefer a foot bath to a big soak because 1.) I live somewhere that is always on the verge of drought and 2.) my water bill is high enough as it is, and we are conservative water users.

I melted the oils together and it only took about 20 seconds in the microwave, then I stirred in the essential oils.

Next I measured the dry ingredients into a bowl and stirred them together.

I poured the oil mixture into the dry stuff and mixed it all up.

Instead of scooping, I spooned the mix into a silicone mold. When I checked a few minutes later these were smooth as can be, it just took a bit for them to settle. It says it can take 24-48 hours for them to become completely dry and sure enough, when I tried to remove one it was still soft but I bet they will be adorable next week!

Simply Earth always puts together such a cool box and I love learning about the new oils as I receive them. I was especially excited to add sage to my collection and the blend for the month was wonderful. The recipes were easy to follow but if you need some help then I would suggest watching the informative videos on the Simply Earth website or their YouTube channel. Simply Earth makes it easy to switch to less harmful beauty and home care products but as always, consult a doctor if nursing or pregnant and be careful when using around pets. I tend to use my oils in the diffuser most of the time but that lava diffuser for my shower is my favorite “recipe” from this month’s box!
