I’m so glad others are migrating here and commenting too!

The thing that drove me over the edge was when the other site said they were moderating comments only consistent with their terms. That’s not true — they are rejecting any comment with a spoiler they don’t have posted — no matter how old.

On the topic of this advent calendar — I’ve been buying Liberty gift sets for my husband for the last couple of years and he really likes them, but I wish the advent calendar included one of their bags. He loves them for cords and things and won’t share them with me. 🙂

Did anyone buy this last year? Was it as good as it looked?

Oh wow, I had no idea.

My issue was it was just to confusing to find anything.

But I’m really loving it here, the up to date reviews and spoilers are all on point.

I really hope Lana makes it here, because she is definitely the person to ask about all thinks Advent Calendars.

Ooh — I would LOVE a “Luna’s First Look” or “Luna’s Advent Calendar Advice” post on Advent calendars!

Hi Abby! I don’t know if you’ve seen yet, but I actually replied to you yesterday in the Cult Beauty calendar post! 🙂 I’m so happy to see you over here! I love getting your insights on the luxe calendars too 😀 I think I may finally indulge in a fragrance one this year, but I need to ponder which one!

Hey Luna, I got it and responded back.

You’re going to have to take the plunge one of these days, I think this is the perfect year to treat yourself to some delightful fragrances. 🙂

I got this last year (well, the past 4 or 5 years, lol), and even without knowing what’s in this year’s I can say with almost 100% certainty I will be getting this year’s as well. 😀

Like with most calendars, when looking at the value breakdown to the cost of the calendar, the “value” is definitely there. I think it’s really a matter of looking at the actual products in the calendar and determining if you want to experience them enough to pay the cost of the calendar since these types of calendars are pretty pricey. Also, worth noting… as last year showed, these types of calendars tend to sell out.

For me, I get great joy in these higher-end/luxe multi-brand calendars, even if I already own some of the products (either in sample or full sizes). Most of the products in them I likely wouldn’t pay full price for (well, unless I really liked it, wanted to try it some more, or was just lusting after it a ton AND there was a nice (i.e. large) gwp bag involved 😉 ) and samples last me quite a while so they’re always worth it to me.

What I really love most about Liberty’s (and Harrod’s & Selfridges) calendars is that they usually include unique fragrances that I never see in any other boxes or gwps… and they’re quite generous in size. However, I think last year Harrod’s had a candle instead of a fragrance. I only mention this because I’m really into trying new fragrances, so their fragrance inclusions are a huge draw for me.

There are a nice number of higher-end/luxe multi-brand calendars now. Some that I can think of that (to me) feel similar to Liberty’s calendar are Harrod’s, Net-a-Porter, Space NK, Selfridges, Lookfantastic, Alyaka, and Cult Beauty (including CB even though they haven’t shipped to the U.S. yet but I know some people use a shipping forwarding service to receive it). Even though I indulge in these calendars (well, not yet CB… hopefully this year though!), they all pretty much feel the same to me since they tend to include the same caliber of products…. not necessarily the *same* products (in my experience there’s usually very little overlap) but the same brands & types of products.

Not counting the perfume inclusions from Liberty’s calendar that has always made it stand out to me, the two that I really felt wowed by last year were the Selfridges and Alyaka calendars (I got the “luxe” Alyaka version with 37 products, but they also have a cheaper one with 28 products). Maybe because it my first time receiving it, but Selfridges calendar had the most “luxe” feel to it for me and I remember feeling wowed by it many times as I opened it throughout December. I also really enjoyed Alyaka’s calendar because of its curation. Alyaka is a green beauty store, and they included a nice number of luxe green beauty products (I felt wowed most days I opened it as well), but it was pretty pricey (I think it was approaching $300).

Overall, they’re all pretty nice to me, and if I had to pick only one, I’d have to see which one had the most lust worthy products to me. I SO can’t wait to see all of the spoilers coming out in the next few months! 😀

Thanks, Luna! Always appreciate your comments.

Last year I got a couple of advent calendars—LookFantastic and Rituals—and promptly decided I would cancel subscriptions like Ipsy and get some calendars instead. I found some quality, useful, deluxe products. I’ve used them all.

I’m hoping to purchase one luxury calendar this year, with a few “lesser” ones.

Luna, I can’t wait for your value assessment. I tend to like what you like.

Lol Jane, hello! I actually like this site much better as they post more frequently and the reviews are honest

Wow, and another one – I guess Liberty is trying to compete with Cult and their calendar.

I think this is the earliest I’ve seen both calendars announced.

Btw – I’m here from another site, and this site is by far the best of the two.

I also migrated here from the “other site” – it’s so nice to see we all had the same idea, lol! I agree, this site is exactly what I want from subscription box reviews and spoilers.

Yes, 100% agree with you! It’s actually much better too.

I know which site you mean and I couldn’t agree more. I’ve dropped the other site entirely. Used to visit them several times a day but no more.

I was holding on to the other site in hopes that things would change back, but it looks like I can let it go now, this site gives me everything that I didn’t know I need, lol!

The same here, I have dropped the other site after going there daily for many years. This page is good though. I’m liking it so far.
