June’s theme is ALL THE WORLD’S A STAGE!

The items were cushioned with squiggles. Some of them arrived in their individual packaging as well.

OwlCrate always has the best info card prints!

The flip side lists all the items inside the box.

They also included an adorable mini-magazine!

Of course, the mini-magazine includes an author interview! This month’s featured author is Janella Angeles. Knowing what inspired the author to pen a story can help children understand the book better.

They also suggested some titles for further reading, especially if you love this month’s book:

The mini-magazine also included some fun activities, while the other page is another interview with @papaerbackbones’ Tes Medovich!

There’s also a box photo challenge that you can join.

Everything in our June 2020 OwlCrate!

The box includes a card with the same artwork on the cover of this month’s featured book.

At the back is a note from the author!

Where Dreams Descend by Janella Angeles ($16.99)

In a city covered in ice and ruin, a group of magicians face off in a daring game of magical feats to find the next headliner of the Conquering Circus, only to find themselves under the threat of an unseen danger striking behind the scenes.

As each act becomes more and more risky and the number of missing magicians piles up, three are forced to reckon with their secrets before the darkness comes for them next.

The Star: Kallia, a powerful showgirl out to prove she’s the best no matter the cost

The Master: Jack, the enigmatic keeper of the club, and more than one lie told

The Magician: Demarco, the brooding judge with a dark past he can no longer hide

Where Dreams Descend is the startling and romantic first book in Janella Angeles’ debut Kingdom of Cards fantasy duology where magic is both celebrated and feared, and no heart is left unscathed.

The stage is set. The spectacle awaits…

The title of the book printed on the spine looks like an old movie title font. It actually makes me feel nostalgic and it’s for sure a stunner!

The title page also includes the author’s signature!

The next page presents the map of Soltair, the place where the story occurred.

The book also has a letter from Lottie de la Rosa, which is about the disappearance of some magicians. It was published on the story’s The Soltair Source issue #84.

The story is about a powerful showgirl, Kallia, who’s out to prove that she is the best among the magicians and that she’s the one who should headline the Conquering Circus.

In this face-off, she’s up against other magicians: Jack, the master and enigmatic keeper of the club, and there’s Demarco, the brooding judge. I find the story nicely written yet there are parts where you can feel the author has to hold back, as the book is categorized and is meant for young adults. Still, the mystery of Hellfire House will get you despite the limited time spent in there, as if there’s something sinister and dark lurking around the place, and makes the story enigmatic and interesting.

Laptop Decal Stickers. The box included 2 laptop decals that both featured the book’s cover design: Kallia sitting on top of the chandelier.

Enamel Pin. This month’s pin is part of the Destination Stamp Collection by Blissfully Bookish Co. and is based on the featured novel this month, Where Dreams Descend.

It’s a two-post pin that comes with gold butterfly clutches.

It features the gate of the Glorian, and of course, the iconic chandelier featured on the book’s cover!

Habit Tracker Pad. The habit tracker pad is inspired by The Greatest Showman, designed by @paperbackbones! You can track all of your daily and even weekly activities on each page of this tracker, you can even include the title of the book you are currently reading.

Shakespeare Pencil Set. The pencil set is placed inside a printed red box. The prints are icons that have something to do with writing!

Team OwlCrate designed this amazing set of writing tools!

Each pencil comes with a quote from Shakespeare. They also include eraser tops on each of them.

Whipped Up Wonderful Shower Steamer in Coffee + Orange. The shower steamer is an OwlCrate exclusive and made in collaboration with bath bomb shop, Whipped Up Wonderful.

The scent for this shower steamer is inspired by one of the cocktails in Ace of Shades by author Amanda Foody.

It has a strong smell of coffee with hints of oranges.

Bones Coffee Co. Cirque Du Freak. For coffee lovers, they included this pack of coffee in mini-donuts flavor!

Bones Coffee makes small batches of coffee. The packaging is amazing and the art on it is great as well.

Tin Pencil Holder/Coin Bank. The next item was packed in a cute OwlCrate gift box!

The content of this box is based on the novel The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern (one of my favorite books!).

It is a coin bank that can also be used as a pen holder! The design is inspired by Le Cirque Des Reves or the Circus of Dreams.

The lid has a slot where you can insert your money if ever you choose to use it as a coin bank.

The bottom has the OwlCrate symbol on it!

They also gave us a theme spoiler for the July 2020 box, Date with Destiny!

At the back is the sneak peek! In every July box, subscribers will receive a mug from artist Cara Kozik!

This month’s box is truly magical, not just with the featured novel, but also with all the bookish goodies we received! The story is mysterious and interesting, while its setting is powerful and enigmatic. I love the set of Shakespearean pencils, and the pen holder is perfect to keep them! The enamel pin this month is also beautiful, and I like the design very much, as it looks like a stamp. I’m very pleased with this month’s box, and it definitely set up the world as a stage with all the magic it unleashes. Well, I’m excited about my “Date with Destiny” next month!
