Doki Doki is a monthly kawaii subscription box from Japan Crate. You can subscribe to the box for $35 each month. Every month, you’ll receive super cute themed Japanese items – accessories, stationery, plushies, and other adorable Japanese goodies.

DEAL: Use coupon code HELLO to save $3 on your first box!

The interior of the box is filled with doodles.

The box is full to the brim. Most of the items were also wrapped in plastic.

The box includes a booklet with kawaii cover art!

July 2020 theme is KAWAII GETAWAY.

Inside, there are photos of the items, plus a brief description of each.

There’s a note about the missing item in the box, which is the Sanrio towel, and they replaced it with two items which are the Pokemon pouch and My Neighbor Totoro chopsticks. As much as I want to receive the towel, I guess getting two replacement items is fair enough, and I also appreciate that they have given us a heads-up.

Everything in the July 2020 box!

Maekake Backpack. Maekake are traditional Japanese aprons usually worn by artisans and they are the inspiration for this string backpack design!

My backpack features a cute cat print. Subscribers will receive either this or the Shiba Inu design.

The bag is really light yet it’s very spacious! It can fit a small notebook, as well as pens or pencils.

Japanese Souvenir Pouch. Cute pouches are common souvenirs in Japan. Subscribers received either a pouch featuring famous places in Japan or Japanese food and dishes!

The pouch I have features tourist spots in Japan like Mt. Fuji and the Osaka Castle! It’s so cute!

Pokemon Pocket Monsters Pouch. As a replacement for the missing Sanrio towel, here’s the Pokemon pouch. It features one of Ash’s cute Pokemons, Squirtle!

The back of the pouch also has Squirtle on it, along with Pokemon’s Japanese name, Zenigame, and number which is No. 007.

Mt. Fuji Charm. Another item that features one of the most famous tourist spots in Japan is this adorable charm!

This Mt. Fuji charm can be used as a cellphone, bag, or camera charm! It’s also reflective so you can easily see or spot it.

Hanging Sloth Plush. Sloths love to hang or cling on tree branches and this plushie perfectly captures that position!

It comes in a bright pink color, and I just love how soft and squishy it is!

The sloth looks like it’s blushing while sleeping, which makes it more adorable. Its arms and legs are held together by velcro, so you can easily remove it from the clinging position and return it when you want to.

There were several issues about this Doki Doki Crate, but the good thing is that they were on top of it. They sent an email to subscribers explaining the situation. Apparently, the Sanrio towel didn’t make it to the box due to manufacturing problems. They also promised to send the missing replacement items in the August box. Subscribers were either missing the Totoro chopsticks or the Pokemon pouch. I’m missing the chopsticks.

As for this month’s items, my favorites are the sloth plush and the souvenir pouch! The plushie is soft and really cute, and I can even hang it because of its design. The souvenir pouch is a nice collectible for Japan fans since it has illustrations of the country’s most popular tourist sites. Despite the issues, Doki Doki Crate still has kawaii items that I’d love to have and collect. I hope they resolve the problems and improve future shipments!
