Right off the bat, I want you to know that this class is going to be about much more than TV journalism or broadcasting techniques. Of course we’re going to get into that—it’s my wheelhouse, after all—but this class is about communicating. It’s about working on your communication skills, starting from a place of genuine interest and personal authenticity and resulting in something priceless: human connection. So why should you communicate clearly and effectively? Well, if you know how you can get through this life without doing that, would you let me know? Because in any line of work, anything that you’re doing, you stand to benefit greatly by being able to communicate effectively. I want to show you how you can do that. In this class, I’m going to talk to you about negotiating, public speaking, and the importance of body language. I’m going to discuss how to communicate your value at work, develop real connections, and—wait for this—make your mess your message. What do I mean by that? You’re going to find out. I’m going to take you to work with me and go behind the scenes at “Good Morning America,” and I’m going to share with you some of my favorite interviews, including with Selma Blair, First Lady Michelle Obama, and President Barack Obama. Before we get started, I just want to say one thing. Anyone, and I do mean anyone, can build their optimism and their resilience. They’re like a muscle: The more you use it, the stronger it becomes. Life will always have peaks and valleys—that won’t change. But you can meet those challenges head-on, knowing you have what it takes to not only survive but to thrive.

Each class includes extensive pre-recorded video content, a class workbook, interactive assignments, and community activities. The videos are viewable at any time, and they can be paused, fast-forwarded, and re-watched as many times as you’d like. In addition, many students utilize the class discussions below each video to share their thoughts, upload their performances, and provide feedback on others’ work.
Classes range anywhere from 2-5 hours and each class is made up of several lessons that range from 5-25 minutes in length – some classes may have longer lessons. You can watch and re-watch at any time.

- Get feedback from fellow students in the MasterClass student groups that you can use to exchange feedback and discuss the lessons.
- Complete classes at your own pace. If you purchased access to a specific course, your access is unlimited. If you have an Annual Membership, your access continues until you cancel.
