There are library book cards that we can stick to each book if ever we are going to lend them to some friends!

Here are the two beautiful picture books this month, Where Bear? by Sophy Henn and My Little Half Moon by Douglas Todd Jennerich.

My Little Half-Moon by Douglas Todd Jennerich ($14.31)

A determined child goes the extra mile to try to cheer the lonely half moon

Have you ever looked up at the half-moon hiding in the night sky and thought it looked just the littlest bit lonely without its other half?

Imagine . . .
having no one to glow with
no one to play with
no one to share
how much you like puppies and big, fuzzy bears.

If you’re like this determined young child, you might stay up every night to keep the moon company. Maybe if you share your treats and toys and stories, you’ll cheer him up.

But the moon is very shy, so it might take some time. Still, if you’re very very patient, you just might make a new friend.

It’s a story about a kid who wants to cheer up the lonely moon. The adorable cover design drew my kids in immediately.

The inside flap of the book jacket tells us more about the story. It even showed us a sample of the beautiful illustrations that are also waiting for us in the book!

Rhyming words accompany every illustration, making it a nice read-aloud practice as well.

The protagonist is consistent in exerting efforts to make the moon less lonely. My kids think it’s just so cute and heartwarming! I definitely agree!

Where Bear? by Sophy Henn ($16.99)

“Nothing short of magnificent.”–Library Media Connection

“[A] winsome debut.”–New York Times

This beautifully illustrated, fun read-aloud picture book will have kids everywhere asking the same question: “Where, bear?”

Once there was a bear cub who lived with a little boy. But over time the bear cub grew . . . and grew . . . and GREW! And did things that bears do . . . and do . . . and DO! One day the boy looked at the bear and realized he was just too big and bearish to be living in a house. “I think it’s time we found you a new place to live where you can be bearish and big,” said the boy. “But where, bear?”

From the only two-time World Book Illustrator Sophy Henn, here is a delightful journey that reminds us that even when best friends are apart, they always stay together.

It’s a story about a bear cub that once lived with a little boy. The cover design is quite minimalist but it just made us even more excited about what’s inside.

Like most books, some information about the story is written on the inside flap of the book’s jacket. There are adorable illustrations of the bear as well.

The unusual yet beautiful friendship between a boy and a bear makes the story really interesting for the kids!

There are many repetitive words in the text, which makes it easy for kids to remember them.

The picture books we got this month are fun and age-appropriate! We love beautifully written stories coupled with charming illustrations and they gave us just that. Both books are also about friendship, which my kids found heartwarming. It’s a great month for Elephant Books and we’re definitely excited to see more of these adorable books next month!
