Amoda Tea is a premium tea subscription that sends hand-selected teas sourced from small, independent tea companies. There are two choices of box available — the Original Monthly Tea Box and The Low Caff. Both cost $20, have free shipping to Canada/US (no international shipping yet), and you can also add on some extra bonuses like a perfect teaspoon or extra tea bags. They also have a tasty tea guarantee — if you don’t like a tea in your box, they’ll replace it in your next box!

This is a review of the original box.

This is my first shipment from Amoda and I am so excited to try these teas!

Every month, they also send a super cute tea postcard! Do you like this one very matcha?

They always send paper filters in case you don’t have an infuser. I use a Teavana Perfecttea Maker but a French press or stainless steel infuser or strainer works well too.

Here’s the list of this month’s teas! It’s summer and the bottom of the card listed ways to turn this month’s selections into iced tea.

All of my teas! I posed them in the order I want to try them (sorry matcha, you go last).

Naked Teas Galore in Black Currant Next to the name of the tea you can find the company that blended the tea. Amoda sells tea in their online shop but I couldn’t find this flavor. The ingredients are listed as are the steeping instructions, including the amount of tea to use, amount of water, water temperature, and steep time. It also states the caffeine level so you can decide the best time to drink your tea.

Isn’t this lovely? It smelled lovely too. I went ahead and used 1 1/2 teaspoons of tea and steeped it for 5 minutes. The resulting cup was light and delicate and not bitter. The flavor was fruity with a hint of floral but this wasn’t a rosy tea. I added just a touch of sugar but really no additives were needed as this was just fine by itself.

The Monarch Tea Co. Fruit Tea in Mango Love I couldn’t find this on either website but it is a fruit tea with no actual tea leaves and is caffeine-free.

Look at those chunks of fruit! As for the scent, I wish I could make this into a fragrance for my home, body, etc. It is a happy fruity tropical scent that I love! The tea had a slight tang thanks to the hibiscus and was sort of like fruit punch in tea form. It was absolutely perfect.

Natur’el Tea In Strawberry Green Japanese and Chinese sencha green teas are blended with wild mountain strawberries, kiwi, and sage. The scent when you open the bag is sweet and bright, like smelling a fresh strawberry.

Make sure to keep the water below boiling so that the tea won’t turn bitter. I let it steep for 3 minutes and found that I didn’t need sugar at all, and that’s really saying something since I almost always add sweetener to tea. The flavor was light and would make a nice refreshing drink on the ice during a hot summer day.

Amoda Activate Matcha Blend This tea is available from Amoda and is labeled as a “rejuvenating adaptogen latte blend” and “rejuvenating superfood powder”.

What you’re getting is the calm energy of matcha, the increased mental clarity and stress supporting power of eleuthero, fatigue-fighting benefits of maca, the deep nutrition and anti-aging benefits of green tea pollen, the detoxifying and nourishment of spirulina and the grounding pleasant taste of vanilla.

You can turn this into a cold or hot latte or add to a shake or smoothie. I’m not a big fan of matcha so I will keep this around to add to a morning smoothie as an energy and health booster.

I was very impressed with my first box from Amoda! I love to drink tea, both in the morning to get me going, in the evening as a way to relax, and as a mid-afternoon energy boost, either hot or iced. The teas sent were of exceptional quality and didn’t taste fake or smell weird. I would never have discovered these brands without Amoda, and they did an excellent job of searching for smaller vendors. I also appreciate that they gave instructions for serving the drinks iced for the upcoming summer!
