Play! by Sephora is a monthly subscription box that brings only the best and exclusive Sephora beauty and makeup samples. The subscription costs $10 per month, and you’ll get 5 deluxe beauty products, a beauty bonus, a fragrance bonus, playlists, plus coupons you can use when you visit in-store.

Everything arrives packed in a bag, preventing items from rolling around in the box.

Don’t forget about your Play! Pass. It gets you 50 extra Beauty Insider points with a purchase from the box (in-store only). Your subscription also entitles you to Play! Date meetups, if your store participates.

This month’s theme is Feel the Love. The curation is focused on celebrating the beauty loves we can’t live without. The back of the information poster has a collection of feel-good messages that you can clip and share. And, don’t forget to check out The Beauty Insider Community. Create a profile and start joining the discussion!

The fold out poster shows a list of all the items included in this box plus product/brand trivia and beauty tips. You can access all of the information and also watch videos right on the Sephora site or use the app to scan the sheet for more info!

Everything in my box! My variation was box 185. Click here to see variant items in other boxes!

Lancôme Drama Liqui-Pencil – Brûlée ($9.58): This is a highly pigmented pencil liner that goes on like a gel. The formula is long-wearing and doesn’t smudge. I tend to get oily eyelids and have raccoon eyes by the end of the work day, but not with this. I found that this set pretty quickly, so if you want a smoky look you’ll need to smudge the liner immediately after applying. The only thing I didn’t like was the pencil casing but only because I find that material hard to sharpen.

Sephora Collection Rouge Matte Lipstick – Rebel Chic ($4.42): I really like the Sephora Collection lipsticks. They are highly pigmented, and the matte formulas don’t dry out my lips (they actually are moisturizing). So, I was happy to receive Rebel Chic. The color is described as a berry shade, but I thought it was more of a brick red. Anyway, it’s a very dramatic color and something I would wear with an evening look. As you can see from the picture, my lipstick fell out of the housing during shipping and smashed into the cap. ?

NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil – Let’s Go Crazy ($20.25): So, I fell in love with NARS’ lip pencils a few years ago when I got my first ones as my Sephora birthday gift. The formulas are super creamy. This is a bright berry shade (almost fuchsia) that I feel is a fun color to wear on a night out. This deluxe sample is more than half of a full-sized pencil, which is why the value is so high. BTW, I am totally singing the Prince song and feeling like I need a night of dancing now!

Peter Thomas Roth FIRMx Peeling Gel ($6.54): In last month’s Play! box, I received a similar peeling gel by boscia. I had some issues with that product that turned me off from trying this version by Peter Thomas Roth. I did get over my concerns and tried this out. This formula was much easier to rinse off, and I did notice a difference in my complexion afterwards. This might be a keeper.

belif Moisturizing Eye Bomb ($9.60): This hydrating eye cream contains a host of botanical ingredients to nourish and revive the area around the eyes. Dab a little after moisturizing, and before makeup, to fill in any fine lines you may have.

Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb ($1.98): I am so torn on this scent. It has so many elements that I look for in a fragrance, but… When it is first applied, the aromas of patchouli, freesia, and rose seem overwhelming to me (maybe because I dislike them so much). However, once this mellows, it has a soft powdery finish that I actually enjoy. Top notes – jasmine, middle notes – orange blossom, and bottom notes – patchouli.

An explosion of flowers, Flowerbomb opens with subtle traces of bergamot and mandarin, leading to a heart of an exquisite floral explosion, comprised of sambac jasmine, freesia, centifolia rose, and osmanthus. Deep amber, woody, and patchouli notes combine with warm vanilla and praline notes to complete a truly addictive fragrance. Wear it for a night out on the town with the girls, a romantic dinner, a spontaneous adventure with no definite destination. Flowerbomb ensures you’ll leave a trail of allure wherever you go.

Swatches from top to bottom: Lancôme Drama Liqui-Pencil, Sephora Collection Rouge Matte Lipstick, and NARS Velvet Matte Pencil.

Thanks to the NARS lip pencil, and a few other higher value items, this month’s box has a product value over $52! I loved all 3 makeup products equally and really can’t think of anything in the box that I didn’t like (yes, my wavering on Flowerbomb still counts as a like). It’s boxes like this, with a great assortment, that keep me subscribed to Play! by Sephora. Can’t wait to see what next month holds.
