There was a card introducing the featured book for the month: Enigma by Catherine Coulter and cards for two free ebooks. This month, we also got some tea to go along with our reading.

A Duke in the Night by Kelly Bowen ($5.98) – A bad boy business man and the head of an all girls school? I’m in sign me up and let’s see where this classic story stakes us.

“Where have you been all my life, Kelly Bowen? If Julia Quinn, Sarah MacLean, and Lisa Kleypas were to extract their writing DNA, mix it in a blender, and have a love child, Kelly Bowen would be it.” –HeroesandHeartbreakers.com

Duke. Scoundrel. Titan of business. August Faulkner is a man of many talents, not the least of which is enticing women into his bedchamber. He’s known-and reviled-for buying and selling companies, accumulating scads of money, and breaking hearts. It’s a reputation he wears like a badge of honor, and one he intends to keep.

Clara Hayward, the headmistress of the Haverhall School for Young Ladies, on the other hand, is above reproach. Yet when she’s reunited with August all she can think of is the way she felt in his arms as they danced a scandalous waltz ten long years ago. Even though her head knows that he is only back in her life to take over her family’s business, her heart can’t help but open to the very duke who could destroy it for good.

Enigma (An FBI Thriller) by Catherine Coulter ($11.00) – This is a straight up mystery, thriller this month as the featured book. I love to mix up  my genres so love the twist on the normal romance books we receive.  I’ve heard of Catherine Coulter before but have not read any of her books so this will be my first venture into her world and I fully expect to get sucked into the FBI world of hers.

The highly anticipated twenty-first FBI thriller by #1 New York Times bestselling author Catherine Coulter presents Agents Savich and Sherlock with two baffling mysteries. Working with Agent Cam Wittier (Insidious) and New York-based former Special Forces agent Jack Cabot, they must race against the clock to catch an international criminal and solve the enigma of the man called John Doe.

A Distraught Mother…

Kara Moody’s perfect pregnancy turns into a nightmare when her newborn son is nowhere to be found in her Georgetown hospital. FBI agents Savich and Sherlock think they’re investigating an abduction, but soon discover their case is tangled in a web of medical mystery that could make immortality possible.

An Irish Killer…

Liam Hennessy, notorious thief and one of the FBI’s most wanted, has escaped into the deep woods of the Appalachians—and when he wants to be hidden, few can find the Manta Ray.

Special agents Jack Cabot and Cam Wittier are sent to find him, but they find something else entirely.

A FBI team running out of time…

As each agent tirelessly pursues their prey, the clock is ticking. The odds grow ever slimmer that Kara Moody will ever see her baby again. Savich and his team will have to go way beyond the ordinary if they are to solve the cases of a lifetime.

With Enigma being our book of the month, we also got a note written by Catherine.

Zero Hour by Megan Erickson ($5.98) – We all know that NERDS are hot and bad-ass hackers are the best. Just look at tv and movies and you know that while they are supposed to be nerdy they are hot as hell and their smarts just add to it. This book has a whole group of hackers ready to find out the truth and have some fun while they are doing it.

Hacker extraordinaire Roarke Brennan lives each hour – each breath – to avenge his brother’s murder. His first move: put together a team of the best coders he knows. They’re all brilliant, specialized, and every one an epic pain in his ass. Only now Wren Lee wants in too, threatening to upset their delicate balance. The girl Roarke never allowed himself to want is all grown up with sexy confidence and a dark past … and she’s the wild card he can’t control.

Roarke might still think she’s a kid, but Wren’s been to hell and back. Nothing and nobody can stop her – especially the tatted-up, cocky-as-all-hell hacker. But when years of longing and chemistry collide, Wren and Roarke discover that revenge may be a dish best served blazing hot.

One and Only by Jenny Holiday ($5.24) – This sounds like a Lifetime movie and I’m surprised we haven’t seen it yet.  What fun to have an against type couple coming together mixed in with the general wedding shenanigans.

In this laugh-out-loud romantic comedy, USA Today bestselling author Jenny Holiday proves that when opposites attract, sparks fly.

Miss Responsibility meets Mr. Reckless

With her bridezilla friend on a DIY project rampage, bridesmaid Jane Denning will do anything to escape – even if it means babysitting the groom’s troublemaker brother before the wedding. It should be a piece of cake, except the “cake” is a sarcastic former soldier who is 100% wicked hotness and absolutely off-limits.

Cameron MacKinnon is ready to let loose after returning from his deployment. But first he’ll have to sweet talk the ultra-responsible Jane into taking a walk on the wild side. Turns out, riling her up is the best time he’s had in years. But what happens when the fun and games start to turn into something real?

Raw Power by Jackie Ashenden ($9.99) – This book reminds me of the movies First Daughter and Chasing Liberty. They came out about the same time and are both about the First Daughter rebelling against their fathers but in a rather PG way. This book sounds way more then PG but still of the same premise.  I can’t wait.

They fought for their country. Now they fight for you.

To find the people lost in the shadows, you need the men who live in them. The former soldiers of 11th Hour are unaffiliated, unacknowledged, and definitely illegal. They protect the innocent, destroy the guilty—and capture hearts along the way . . .

Rugged, skilled, and hard-bodied, Jack King’s whole life was the Marines until an injury left him discharged from active duty. But he finds a new purpose when he’s recruited by a special unit that employs ex-military to do very special jobs. Yet he’s not impressed when his first assignment is babysitting the pretty, perfect daughter of a politician—especially when she’s far from the angel she appears to be . . .

Callie Hawthorne hates politics, and she hates playing the part of a senator’s goody two shoes daughter even more. It only gets worse when her father decides she needs a security detail 24/7—and the bodyguard happens to be the most insanely hot guy Callie’s ever seen. Still, she’s not going to be ordered around just because of some half-assed threat to her father. . . . But when it turns out her dad’s no angel either, Jack has to kidnap Callie in order to protect her. And as danger closes in, he’ll need all his considerable talents to keep them both alive. The greater challenge will be to keep his hands off her .

Another great box from Fresh Fiction Box Not To Miss this month. While not a themed monthly box, there is feel of authority figures in this one and lots of books that couple be good on a serialized TV-show. All of the books this month look just like ones I would pick out but from mostly authors I have never heard from before. New authors are always welcome and I’ve been taking more time to read lately so I need to keep adding to my to be read pile.

What did you think of this month’s book selection?
