The Book(ish) Box is a monthly subscription of literary inspired items. Every box contains a t-shirt and 3-4 other literary items. The Bookish Box now offers the option to have a YA book included in your box! When you sign up, you’ll have the option to select one of multiple box options.

This month’s theme is Destined. Each item in this box comes from a story where a character was destined to be great. I received 7 great items this month.

DEAL: You can save $3.50 on your first box with coupon code WELCOME or save 15% on your entire subscription with coupon code HELLO.

The first item in this month’s box is a coffee mug with a watercolor illustration of Aelin Fireheart from the book series Throne of Glass by Sarah Maas. This mug is destined to hold my next glass of tea. I think I need to order this series. Looks similar to Game of Thrones, which I just caught up on. Let me just say this…. it is AWESOME!!!

My next item was created by Hello World Paper Company. It is a wooden ornament in the shape of stacked books with titles where the characters are destined for great things. Just in time for Christmas. I love it.

My next item is inspired by my favorite series, Harry Potter!! It is a candle with a touch of gold inside by Whiskey Diamond Candle Company. Inside there are small golden flakes and the outside is decorated with a copy of the Daily Prophet. Unfortunately, none of the photos moved. This candle has a sweet smell to it.  This is not my first candle from them. I adore their candles. They always have neat designs and scents.

My next items are a Games of Thrones print and the monthly theme doodle.  The Game of Thrones print is of the Mother of Dragons herself and illustrated by @DaniMarieDraws. I am actually rooting for this character. The monthly Theme doodle was created by Doodles by Christina. You color and share this doodle for a chance to get your next box free.

This month’s shirt was designed with inspiration from Harry Potter series by the Bookish shop. The quote is very Hermione-ish, “When in doubt, go to the library.” Nothing wrong with a bit of time in the library. All the characters in that series were destined for a fate that none realized they had. Which is what I think makes the whole series awesome.

If you haven’t tried out the shirts, you should. Make a bold statement for literacy with these comfy and well designed shirts.

I upgraded my box to include the book! This month’s book is Shadow Girl by Liana Liu (Amazon $12.59) is about young girl who is trying to finder herself  and goes to tutor a wealthy man’s daughter one summer. Things begin to happen and she becomes an unwittingly participant in the strange destiny of this wealthy family.

The house on Arrow Island is full of mystery.

Yet, when Mei arrives, she can’t help feeling relieved. She’s happy to spend the summer in an actual mansion tutoring a rich man’s daughter if it means a break from her normal life—her needy mother, her delinquent brother, their tiny apartment in the city. And Ella Morison seems like an easy charge, sweet and well behaved.

What she doesn’t know is that something is very wrong in the Morison household.

Though Mei tries to focus on her duties, she becomes increasingly distracted by the family’s problems and her own complicated feelings for Ella’s brother, Henry. But most disturbing of all are the unexplained noises she hears at night—the howling and thumping and cries.

Mei is a sensible girl. She isn’t superstitious; she doesn’t believe in ghosts. Yet she can’t shake her fear that there is danger lurking in the shadows of this beautiful house, a darkness that could destroy the family inside and out…and Mei along with them.

Well, thanks for reading my review. I am off to read more books. Keep reading and adding pages to the story of your life.
