The theme for November 2017 is Defend Against the Elements. The info card lists a bit about each item in the box and its approximate value.

Nomadic always includes a Challenge card to encourage you to get out and use your items in the wild. They have a photo contest for those who document their adventure.

A second card shares a tip on some aspect of camp life. This one was appropriate for this box and shared some fire-starting basics.

Everything in my box!

Outdoor Element FireBiner ($14.95) A carabiner or karabiner is a specialized type of shackle, a metal loop with a spring-loaded gate that is used to quickly and reversibly connect components — this “FireBiner” combines that simple functionality with a handy flint and steel mechanism.

The information and parts of this Firebiner is written at the back of the packaging. The carabiner is rated to 100 lbs (NOT for climbing).

The Firebiner is a fire-starting, multi-tool, everyday carry, survival carabiner with many handy features — it has a bottle opener, screwdriver, and utility blade built in to the design. You can clip keys, camera, water bottle, or a myriad of other products to backpacks, shelves, fences, belt loops or to whatever is needed at the moment.

The steel wheel makes contact against a spring-loaded ferro rod.

It throws off quite a spark!

Live Fire Original ($12.06) Live Fire is a fire starting product that fits in the palm of your hand and burns hotter and longer than most starters out there.

Live Fire is meant for ALL weather conditions and takes a spark easily from a Ferrocerium rod, lighter or match.

The entire contents of the tin are 100% waterproof and will even light after being submerged in water for long periods of time. Truly a convenient must-have when you’re outdoors. The instructions say to use the lid to adjust flame size, so it is intended to be held when lit — it’s possible it could be smothered with the sliding lid and reused multiple times!

Seal Line Blocker Dry Sack ($25) A versatile and efficient-packing dry sack! This is perfect for hikers and kayakers.

It’s lightweight, waterproof and has fully-welded seams.

And we got the biggest size, 30 liters!

Blocker waterproof dry sacks are the easiest way to organize and protect clothing and other stuff inside your bags, luggage or even on a boat. When not in use, it folds compactly and clips together for easy stowing.

It’s also a great space-saver, as the squared design packs more efficiently than round stuff sacks.

It’s made of a high-strength 70-denier polyurethane-coated nylon that is light enough to satisfy ounce-counters, yet durable enough to stand up to life outside a pack. Our bag was huge — here it is with a long pillow in it. Though this particular sack might be too big to easily pull in and out of a kayak storage compartment packed, it could be used as a catch-all liner for the compartment or a single-compartment ruck sack.

It’s also eco-friendly and has a roll-top closure that features a grippy stiffening strip to ensure a wrinkle-free, secure seal when closing the dry sack. You just roll it down a few times and clip the clips together.

Nomadik does a great job of including new tech in each box, but it isn’t tech just for the sake of tech — everything is useful and practical. It isn’t an outdoors-themed box, its an actual outdoor gear supply. They always supply high-quality, super functional and beneficial items for anyone who loves the outdoors!

This subscription lets us update our outdoor kit with useful items every month and also provides a convenient way to discover new outdoor products, all without having to spend tons of money. So all in all, it’s a win!
