Five Four Club is a men’s clothing monthly subscription club – sign up, pick a style profile and your sizes, and get clothes every month. The subscription is a $60 flat monthly fee, and traditionally subscribers receive a variable number of items each month, depending on the value of the month’s selections (months with several items usually include a tee-shirt or other lower value item). This subscription ships at the end of the month.

Five Four Club has been shipping clothes in padded envelopes and wrapped in tissue to keep the items neat.

Everything in my August 2017 box! This month’s collection had three shirts. The selections are chosen according to your profile – the clothes are somewhat seasonal, but not rigidly so, and there is no ostensible theme. FYI – my Five Four profile is “Forward,” so pieces tend to have a bit of an edgy, trendy, or urban feel (you can select to receive Casual, Classic, Mixed, or Forward selections).

Cielo Socks (Black): Stretchy, super low-rise socks that hide below the rim of your shoes. This pair is dark black and perfect for pairing with dark loafers or sneakers.

Cielo Socks (Baby Blue): Identical in construction, but the color is a baby blue.

The bottom of each sock is a distinct panel.

The material is not very rigid, but the socks are constructed like a moccasin.

A look at the interior surface of the socks.

I’m tempted to use these as house slippers instead of socks.

Walt Fashion Tees: This color is described as off white, but it is very tan to my eye. This tee is very comfortable, but I actually find it difficult to pair with anything – khakis make it a monotone outfit, and green bottoms (which would go the best) tend to look a bit uniformy.  It think it goes best with some wild shorts or jeans.

The shirt is soft and not overly styled, but the breast pocket does have a nice shape and stitching details.

Rickard Fashion Tees: A nice heather gray henley style tee. It wears like a tee shirt (and has no ill-fitted sleeves), but it looks a bit nicer and fits in with a casual outfit well.

The button collar adds a nice bit of interest, allowing you to wear a comfy shirt without looking unkempt.

Tim Long Sleeves: This light blue really looks great in a windowpane pattern. The dark and light tones in the pattern gives this shirt the gravitas of a button down dress shirt, but it also feels much lighter and more lively.

The construction is pretty classic, with very slightly pleated sleeves at the cuff and a breast pocket.

The back has a collar button and a tab.

I like the new Five Four labelling. They used to have a red and white tag – the branding was cool, but this is definitely calmer and fits dressier clothes better.

This collection was nice and very wearable. I love the button down and the henley style tee. I don’t wear too many shoes calling for no-show socks, but the design is cool, and I’m glad to have a couple pairs available when needed.

Five Four is an easy way to expand your wardrobe. You choose your fashion profile, so you get items that fit in with your general fashion sensibility, but you also tend to get items your wouldn’t have thought to seek out. Returns are allowed for sizing issues only – this is not a try-before-you-buy service, but the items are generally such that they will easily find a home in your wardrobe. Five Four does designer collaborations and now offers a la carte pieces in their online store to further leverage your subscription items.
