The first selection is Turkish novelist Sabahatin Ali’s Madonna in a Fur Coat. This gorgeous Turkish novel, a love story set in 1920s Berlin, compared both to Turgenev’s First Love and Fitzgerald’s Great Gatsby, is one of the top rated books on good reads – 21,935 votes and a 4.5 star rating. YET, it is unknown in the English speaking world. The English translation will be released in the U.S in November (75 years after it was first published), but our book subscribers will get their hands on this heartbreakingly beautiful novel ahead of the release, in October.
Fun Fact : Marion Cottilard is slated to play the female lead in the film version of this book.
