Doki Doki is a monthly Kawaii subscription box from Japan Crate. Every month you’ll receive super cute Japanese items – accessories, stationery, plushies, and other adorable Japanese goodies.

Love this cover art this month!

DEAL: Use coupon code HELLO to save $3 on your first box!

The theme this month is Back To School!

There’s also a little comic and more fun stuff!

The middle of the booklet contains all the information about the items.

Everything in the August Box!

Yume No Hoshi Ribbon – This kind of ribbon is a staple in most Japanese school uniforms.

Yume No Hoshi means “Dream Star,” which explains why there are celestial prints on the ribbon. It can be worn on the hair or as a lucky charm on a bag!

Vitamin Ballpoint Pen – An ordinary writing instrument turned kawaii!

It is disguised as a cute vitamin pill…

But when stretched, it becomes a super cute pen you can use to jot down notes at school and even at home or at work.

Chun Chun Friends Plushies – Subscribers will receive 1 of 8 adorable bird designs. We got Sparrow!

Chun Chun Friends are a flock of birds who loves going on adventures.

Each of them have their own “furoshiki” or Japanese wrap cloth which they use to carry their belongings while traveling.

It’s a squishy playmate that kids can take to school or look forward to spend time with at home after classes.

Kakigori Hoppe-Chan – This month, Hoppe-Chan is wearing a sunflower on her head while enjoying kakigori or a bowl of Japanese shaved ice.

Maybe she reminds us to relax one more time just before the new school year starts.

You can easily attach Hoppe Chan wherever you want her to spread cuteness — on your lunch bag, with your keys, or on your phone!

Totoro Cup – Subscribers will receive either a canary yellow cup or a matcha green cup. We got yellow!

A pretty little cup for the kids’ after school refreshments.

It features Totoro, the cute but mischievous character in Studio Ghibli’s classic film My Neighbor Totoro.

It’s made of plastic, but dishwasher safe.

Name Tag – Neat and useful. Wish there was more, though.

Cinnamoroll Note Pad – A lovely memo pad from Sanrio!

Subscribers will receive 1 of 2 pad designs.

Perfect for jotting down notes in class or doodling during breaks.

Cinnamoroll Letter Set – Passing notes with friends is a lot more fun when you have a kawaii letter set like this!

It’s complete with matching letter paper, envelope, and sealing stickers.

Like the memo pad, this set features Cinnamoroll, Sanrio’s popular puppy character with long ears and a curly tail that resembles a cinnamon roll.

Tohato Caramel Corn – It’s an ideal school snack, but it’s so yummy that it might be all gone even before school starts.

It’s sweet and milky, but also has a fruity flavor to it. Oishii!

The label is in pure Japanese. We checked Tohato’s website to find out more about the product but there was no English version available. Basically it tastes like Fruit Loops.

August’s Doki Doki Crate made us look forward to the coming school year. This subscription is commendable for sending high-quality, useful, and mostly licensed items. It is ideal for sharing with the family because its appeal is not limited to kids. It would also make a great gift for a friend who is into anime or the Japanese kawaii culture in general. Already excited about what kind of kawaii items they have in store for us next month!
