Betoyo Bento is a anime box shipping out of Hong Kong. This is the March box. Betoyo Bento promises to deliver a box of anime goodies each month, but researching the box and past reviews brought up a lot of issues that I addressed in my review of the January box.

To summarise: box was started by two founders, one founder quit. The other founder has lost the passion to continue the box but instead of just cancelling it and refunding, has been not sending out boxes, sending bootlegs, and so on and so forth. That being said, buyer beware before subscribing as there is no indication that things have gone south on the website – though there are complaints on the CrateJoy website. The box is $28 USD a month with $5 shipping on top. No information card is included.

EVA MicroMacro Pouch So I googled this, and then promptly fangirled out when I realised what the art was — SANRIO X NEON GENESIS EVANGELION, YOU GUYS. This totally isn’t licensed but I don’t care, it’s SO cute. It has little chibi-fied versions of Shinji, Asuka, Rei, and Mari in cute pastel colours with stars. I love it. I looooooooove it. I didn’t know this was a thing that existed and now I need all the merch.

Only Yesterday Postcard Print If you recognise the art on the postcard as being a Studio Ghibli production — congratulations, you are officially a Miyazaki nerd like me! Only Yesterday was released in 1991 — 10 years before Spirited Away (Arguably the most widely known film in North America). In 2016, it was released in the US with the English dubbed cast consisting of Daisy Ridley (Rey from Star Wars!) and Dev Patel as the two main leads. The story is set in the 80s and centers on a 27-year-old woman, Taeko, who decides to revisit the town of her childhood to escape city life. She helps her second cousin on his family’s farm and discovers a lot about herself in the process. I’m definitely going to check this one out.

I took an extra picture of the pouch to show the ruffle and pink lining. There’s no tag so it’s definitely not authentic but I still really love it.

One Piece Pirate Ship There’s space in the boat for a mini figure to stand. The sail pivots on the mast which is cool. The whole thing is spring mounted so it bobs and bounces.

We were also sent some cute phone charms! I like the chubby suntanning cat one!

I actually really loved two items in this month’s box, authenticity be darned. But I still can’t recommend this box due to the lack of quality and value.
