The Stan Lee Box is the one and only official subscription box that’s created, and personally curated, by Stan Lee! For only $49.99 every other month, you’ll get a collection of Stan Lee’s favorite things, ranging from collectible figures, licensed artwork, limited edition items, and a lot more.

A short welcome message from Stan Lee! The theme of the box was “EXCELSIOR.” Quite a bit of discussion on how Excelsior is a type of packing material.

The information sheet gives you a list of all the marvelous items this month!

Everything in the second Stan Lee Box!

If you didn’t catch the letter from Stan, it plays a role in quite a few items in the box – give it a read!

Official Stan Lee Excelsior Bag: If you don’t remember the wood wool packing from last box, go pop a peek at the review of the first box! It got all over everything and who knew that they used it because it’s actually called EXCELSIOR!

This is hilarious! It both explains the packing material from before and is also a sweet little mea culpa. Guess you gotta be as old as Stan to know that bit of trivia. Well played.

Fun Facts Collector Card #72

This is a fun collector card with a fun “fact” about the Birth of Bullpen Bulletins.

Exclusive Stan Lee T-Shirt: Love the style of this shirt – which bears his signature catchphrase!

Stan lifted Excelsior from the New York State seal, so it’s only appropriate to see the NYC skyline reflected in his shades.

Marvel Masterworks Rawhide Kid by Stan Lee & Jack Kirby ($8.99) This Masterworks collection of Rawhide Kid features issues 17-25.

We loved this collection of early comics that were created before the superhero heyday.

How To Draw Comics by Stan Lee & John Buscema ($7.99)

One of the first and still one of the best, Stan Lee’s How to Draw Comics the Marvel Way has been the primary resource for any and all who want to master the art of illustrating comic books and graphic novels.

Stan Lee, the Mighty Man from Marvel, and John Buscema, active and adventuresome artist behind the Silver Surfer, Conan the Barbarian, the Mighty Thor and Spider-Man, have collaborated on this comics compendium: an encyclopedia of information for creating your own superhero comic strips. Using artwork from Marvel comics as primary examples, Buscema graphically illustrates the hitherto mysterious methods of comic art. Stan Lee’s pithy prose gives able assistance and advice to the apprentice artist. Bursting with Buscema’s magnificent illustrations and Lee’s laudable word-magic, How to Draw Comics the Marvel Way belongs in the library of everyone who has ever wanted to illustrate his or her own comic strip.

It’s true – this isn’t a new item! My husband actually still owns his childhood copy of this masterwork, which has inspired tens of thousands of children (and adults!) to pick up a pencil.

Now I have a copy that I’m actually allowed to touch!

You’ll learn about lettering, perspective, and figure drawing – and it’s still an awesome look at the creative process even if you can’t draw a straight line, not that I’d be talking about anyone in particular (oh, okay, me!). Fortunately my kids share my husband’s artistic abilities!

Exclusive Marvel Monsters Unleashed #1 Variants ($9.98) Also included – exclusive variant covers of Monsters Unleashed #1! You know I cannot ever get enough of the cameos! The cover is drawn from the design of the next item!

Mike Mayhew Illustration: This exclusive print from Avengers #1 is in a great protective case. Loved this mid-production look at the cover.

The back is numbered and provides an artist bio and explanation of the work.

Q Fig Marvel Spider-Man Figure ($14.95) Bring on the figs! This Spidey QFig is amazing and the perfect addition to my collection!

Iconic upside down pose, great web, street pole, wonderful design on the base!

This is a really inspired figure – I’m totally loving Q Figs and thrilled Stan Lee included this one!

Metals Die Cast Marvel Thor Figure ($12.95) Subscribers received either Thor or Metals Die Cast Iron Man Mark 1. We love Thor but were a bit bummed we didn’t get the MK1 – it’s such an unusual design.

The sense of movement in this figure is great!

Thor is one of my personal favorites, so I’m happy having him grace my shelves.

With a standard $15 for the shirt, I’m up to about a $70 value, which doesn’t include the collector card or the limited edition art print (or the official bag of Excelsior!). I think that’s a pretty good value for the box! I really like the mix of fan of Stan items and fan of Stan Lee’s creations items. It’s a great box for a serious fan/collector. I’m hoping for even more exclusives in the future, or at least some Stan Funko items!!

What did you think of the second The Stan Lee Box?
