Allure Beauty Box is a monthly beauty subscription service that sends deluxe sized product samples and is curated by the editors of Allure Magazine, who choose and test the products themselves. It’s $15 a month and if you sign up for a year-long subscription, you will pay for 11 boxes and get the 12th free. The amount of items sent each month varies and you can earn a “referral bonus box” in each month that a friend subscribes using your personal link.

DEAL:  Typically the discount is $5 off your first box, but you can currently get $5 of each of your first four boxes! No coupon code required, just use this link.

Each box comes with a mini magazine that gives tips on how to use the products, how much the full-sized product costs, and where to purchase. This month’s theme is “The Big Chill” and these items are designed to keep your body and hair soft and supple and to give your face a little sparkle without looking like the ball that will soon drop in Times Square.

I received 6 products this month: 1 for body, 1 for hands, 2 for the face, 1 cleanser for makeup brushes, and 1 makeup item. The items were shipped in a plain brown box that contained a glossy red box inside and there was tissue paper and shredded squiggles for packing.

SkinCeuticals Blemish + Age Defense (no size given, $15?) is free of oils, parabens, fragrance, and dyes and has 5 different acids to help fight signs of aging and delivers a punch in the face to acne. I applied several drops to my skin but it evaporated before I fully applied to my entire face. It smells like rum, and now I want a daiquiri. I think this may be too drying for my skin as the first ingredient is alcohol.

I really like Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré ($1.83) and am always happy to receive it in a subscription box. It has shea butter and mineral oil but isn’t greasy and absorbs quickly. You can use this as a primer, makeup remover, or moisturizer.

Tula Advanced Neck Cream ($22.72) has “probiotic technology” to fight bad bacteria but shea butter and jojoba oils are the key moisturizing ingredients here. Free of phthalates and parabens and cruelty-free, this cream had a smooth consistency and a very light scent.

I was so happy to find a sample of Beautyblender Liquid Blendercleanser (no size given, $1.50?) since I have a ton of makeup brushes and they need to be cleaned ASAP. This formula features a coconut-based cleanser, Dead Sea salt, and lavender oil for scent.

While it didn’t remove everything from my Original Beautyblender, I can now see the original color underneath. I plan on using this cleanser on my makeup brushes next.

I was just wishing I would receive a hand cream in a subscription box and shazam, here it is! Subscribers will receive one of three different scents of Coastal Salt & Soul Heavenly Hand Cream ($10) and I received Mediterranean Citrus, which is supposed to contain the essence of a small Greek island, which I would expect to smell like oregano and cucumbers. Shea butter and avocado oil moisturize and soothe while jojoba oil protects and cucumber & aloe extracts relieve dryness.

I loved how easy to use and not-too-glittery this European Wax Center Oh My Brow! Brow Highlighter ($19) was, not to mention that it is multi-functional too. This champagne colored highlighter can be used on your brow bones, cheeks, lip, nose, corner of eyes, or wherever you want a touch of sheen. Don’t worry about looking like a disco ball because this shade goes on lightly and has a handy dandy sponge on the other end that can blend it all in, or just use your finger like I did.

Here’s the highlighter swatched on my inner arm. It really looked subtle when I applied to my face and blended easily.

My December Allure Beauty Box had a value of $70 (I had to guess on the size of two of the products) but that’s still an excellent return on the price paid! I’m happy with the variety of samples I received this month and feel like they can be used by almost everyone!

Have you tried Allure Beauty Box yet? What did you think of this month’s box?
